Forum Request - Art and Artists

Post by TinSoldier » Wed Mar 06, 2013 2:18 pm

I think this is getting lost in the shuffle. If not, and I'm just being impatient, then just let me know.

In the Communities subforum, we have several art-related threads. Can we have an art and artist subforum for emoticons, avatars and avatar requests, just plain showing off our awesome artwork, and discussion of such works of art? 8)

Suggested name "Ars Graphica". Or just "Art and Artists".

I second this. I was about to make a post just for Goblins Fan Art but decided TinSoldier has the right idea. Ask first. I don't think it should be limited to just a group, though. I would like to see something open to everyone to post on instead of a select few. As for guidelines, here are some ideas for them:

1. Be positive. If someone posts something, don't trash someone showing their love for the comic.
2. Don't nitpick. Give criticism only if the artist requests feedback. Most importantly, keep the feedback constructive.
3. No nudity.
4. On level of violence, don't go beyond what you would see in the comic itself.
5. Label NSFW in the title, if the artwork is not safe for work.

Can you give an example (verbaly) of 5 that should not already have run afoul of 3?
I survived the forum move 4 times... yeah, I feel old.

I was thinking violence as NSFW. I was taking some of that off of the forum rules 7 and 8.

Just my thoughts on guidelines, that's all.

Violence does not count as Not Safe For Work. Anything with excessive swearing or partial nudity does. As does anything you wouldn't want your boss to see displayed on your computer.

I already broke number 3. Ooops! Really I don't see why this is a rule as long as I warn people and put it in spoilers. Same with violence.

I agree. But we must make a rule to put those pictures in spoilers and to give a warning before spoilers. Possibly (if possible) making a special spoiler tag that can only be opened with people that are above age x.

That reminds me. Which type of spoiler tags do we use here? Do we have the kind where you can write spoiler=WORDS in the tag to label them/change the words written on the spoiler tab, or no?

Regardless, yes. I think that spoilering or linking to images with (artistic) nudity, with sufficient nsfw warning should be enough.

By now we have three different spoiler tags:
► Show Spoiler
► Show Spoiler
► Show Spoiler
of course, cornered brackets [], instead of the round brackets ().

I didn't see any help on this yet....
