CTF Game 3: MVP voting closed. That's a wrap!

With the conclusion of the successful hunting trip, the clan is feeling stronger. The clan leaders have decided to hold a larger scale practice game to strengthen their warriors. By training them for larger scale operations, more ambitious missions might be possible in the future.

The players line up:

Image

On the blue team, we have: Nerre, Hides Cloth, Righteous Charger, Stands Firm, Has No Name, and Bomb Diggity!

On the red team, we have: Carves A Pumpkin, Pats Dragons, Tumbles Down A Hill, Yells At Others, Dreamer, and Boar Slayer!

The teams square off, doing their best to size each other up. No one has played a match with teams this large before, and no one is sure how it will go.

Meanwhile, back in the village, the clan babysitter finds himself in the odd position of caring for a pair of injured fox kits living in a box.

Rules and signups

Teams, consult each other and PM me your moves. I'll update when everyone (myself included) is ready.

Thank you. A bit of a hiccup coordinating when Moose and I are both updating the sheets. I thought I'd checked things through. I'll fix that on my copy here. Everyone, please check to make sure your character is correct. Krulle, you may still pick a shirt color and I will make it magically appear at the next turn.

Possibly. I've done my best to keep track of things, and I've gone looking back through the threads, but sometimes I (and Moose) miss stuff. Especially this week. Thanks for your patience and helping to keep me accurate.

Let's go!
(update post for the egosearch page)

Also, I can send PM's not to all. There seems to be a lomit of five recipients.

With five, you're okay. A team of six means you only need to send to five people to discuss your moves. When you're ready, send them to me.

Both teams: Please elect a team captain.

what is the target win number?

CTF Game 3: Turn 1 (The Running Of The Goblins!)

As the players get ready to move, Pats Dragons looks up to the sky. "What is the target win number?"

"SILENCE, MORTAL! YOU WILL ALL PLAY UNTIL IT CEASES TO AMUSE ME! YOU WILL CHASE EACH OTHER AROUND! YOU WILL TACKLE EACH OTHER TO THE GROUND! YOU WILL... HEY, COOL. THAT RHYMED! YOU WILL -- Yipe!"

"Pulls Pranks, what do you think you're doing?" The referee pulls a youngling away from the announcer's megaphone and away for a brief chat. 'Sorry, folks. It seems Watches Kids was too busy watching the kits to watch the kids. I'll get someone to --"

"You going to answer the question, ref?"

"What? Oh, right. Points. Uhm, let's see. Smaller games go to 15. There are more chances for tackles and two flags, so... Hmm... We'll play to 21. But you have to win by 2."

"Isn't that the rule for ping pong?"

"Er, I guess. So what? ... Look, it doesn't matter. Let's get on with the game, shall we?"

Image

The game begins with most players running forward, pretty much as expected. A few choose to sprint.

Nerre forgets to move, but luckily his captain reminds him. Carves A Pumpkin begins to sprint, but realizes that his chosen destination is only two squares away, so ends up saving his energy and just running instead.

Image

In the second half of the turn, things continue apace. Most players keep running towards center field. Carves A Pumpkin moves down a row. Nerre, with his captain urging him on, runs a little further.

"No Name, you SUCK!" Yells Yells At Others, living up to his name.

Looks like we'll have some action next turn as several players are now within striking distance of opposing team members.

Teams, consult and PM me your moves. When you do, please specify which path you're taking. Please also include "CTF" and the turn number in the topic of your PMs. Note that, thanks to Moose, there are now usergroups for Red and Blue teams. You can save yourself some time by addressing your PM to the appropriate team group.

Bomb Diggety, Has No Name, and Yells At Others all sprinted. They have a -1 to tussles in the next turn, and cannot sprint for 2 more turns. Righteous Charger has Sprint Endurance 1, but still cannot sprint for 2 more turns.

Sprint endurance (ATT 1, 2 levels). First level removes the penalty on the turn after sprinting. Second level reduces the "cooldown" on Sprint to one turn.

Oh, there it is. Sorry about that. I'll fix. (But I did like the flip...)

Boar Slayer is on F6. I'll update the map shortly.

Ah, right. I do have skills noted, but most of them are tussle-related. Missed seeing you had that. I'll fix.

Everyone: I'm new at this, and not at my best. Please be patient and keep an eye out for errors to help keep me on track.

Ha, awesome what you did with the sprite!

Little correction though, I/Yells should be in E6 rather than D5 :)

Fixing. Again.

Even my wife had to laugh at that. :)

Thank you, Wears!
(can I give you an extra XP for that?)

Don't think you can give me extra XP, but laughs are always appreciated. :)

And hey, the sprite was much easier to do than my plans for the playfield. (The Avengers and Groot hiding amongst the trees, with Hulk pretending to be a bush. And some Ewoks and a Wookiee on Star Wars Day.) What can I say? My imagination outstripped my ambition.

I did not forget to move to move. I wrote a mail using reply to all, announcing the move my char did in the end anyway. I just checked, you weren┬┤t among the adressed already when i got the mail from the group. Last game the GM was always copied in, i just did not expect it. So my move only got to the whole group, but jot you. Will check it next time, sorry.

Warning: when using "reply to all", the groups "CTF team red" is not copied in for me, so I have to add that group each time again....

Thanks for the warning, might have saved me from sending in a move which might not reach Wears again. The forum system isn't as smart as it should be, not the first time I learn that the hard way.

CTF Game 3: Turn 2 (Aww, I miss you, too!)

Image

The players continue to advance across the field and shift around strategically.

On the red team, Tumbles Down a Hill begins to sprint, moving down to D6 and towards D5. Yells At Others changes from yelling to cheering. Meanwhile, Dreamer decides to take advantage of the GM's willingness to make slight alterations to game sprites for the sake of a cheap laugh in order to stick his tongue out at Has No Name. It's so effective that No Name decides to keep his distance, staying right where he was at the end of last turn.

Image

Nerre cheers on Hides Cloth. With that bonus on top of his improved guarding, Hides Cloth guards his square so effectively that no one from the red team even comes close to him. Ahead of him, Righteous Charger continues his charge, tackling into the red side of the field, but finding no one there. Diagonally across the field, the red team nearly mirrors the action as Yells At Others cheers Dreamer, who also tackles the air. Tumbles Down a Hill finishes his sprint at D4 as Bomb Diggety runs up to meet him and Stands Firm runs past him.

Righteous Charger, Stands Firm, Boar Slayer, and Tumbles Down a Hill each earn 1 advancement XP for their forays into enemy territory.

Righteous Charger has -1 to tussles next turn for his missed tackle.

Tumbles Down a Hill cannot sprint again for 2 turns. Bomb Diggety, Has No Name, Righteous Charger, and Yells At Others cannot sprint next turn.

Dreamer has tackle stamina 2...
SeeAMoose wrote:Tackle stamina (DEF 1, 2 levels). First level removes the penalty on the round after missing a tackle. Second level removes the penalty for being caught in a tussle on the moving part of a tackle.
You're the GM and you're free to apply other rules, but please communicat them..

Sometimes I miss stuff. My sheet said "Stamina 2" rather than "Tackle Stamina" so I didn't process that it applied when I was looking things over. I'll get better with practice. Fixing.

It's alright, I got the cheering range 1, so Boar slayer wasn't out of range, but it doesn't really change anything :)

What? But I checked that. And checked it again. And... Oh, crap. That one specific box in the spreadsheet got deleted somehow. Well, good thing we found it now.
