Thanks. My wife's fine and just went to bed early. Tired. More pc time for me, harhar. o:)

Well, the large X mean "mine", like in "it already exploded and killed somebody searching for mines".
The smaller X, which is build on the little sign the beacon holds, is a warning, meaning "there is an active mine here, don't go here".
As the story is to clear the field so your fleet can pass, both is fine. With the help of the beacons they can evade active mines, but if you explode them, well, not so good for you, but still better than having a unknown mine left.

If you are in one of the 8 fields surrounding a field in which you deem a mine to be, then you only have to write something like "I put a beacon on <coordinates>" and you will secure the field.

Thanks for the explanation.....

Then let me trust on my luck, as the Hyena throws bad for me, I believe that you throw better for me....

You are passing between a blown up and an active mine marked with a beacon. That is a safe move. Like I wrote below the turn picture, you only have a blow up chance if there is an active mine NOT marked with a beacon. :D
- if you can at least fly 1.5 tiles per turn, you can move diagonally (diagonally = 1.5 tiles). If one of the adjacent tiles, which you would have to pass with none-diagonal movement, is an active mine not marked with a beacon, you have a 50% chance to trigger it.
I am quiet sure you will survive this. ;)

Goblinsweepers - Space Odyssey (Turn 41)

Post by Nerre » Tue Feb 03, 2015 3:02 pm

OPERATION: SPACE ODYSSEY

Mission 1: Asteroid Slalom
Your commander wanted to sneak into the enemy territory through an asteroid field, but after three scout ships exploded (I2, J7, E10), he finally understood that this might not have been the best idea in his long career. So he send you, the anti mine squad, to remove the danger to the fleet and cleanse the asteroid field of mines so the fleet can pass it. Be careful, the shipwrecks are not safe, the mines that destroyed them could have been replaced in the meantime. The enemy is know to have access to stealth field technology.

- if you can at least fly 1.5 tiles per turn, you can move diagonally (diagonally = 1.5 tiles). If one of the adjacent tiles, which you would have to pass with none-diagonal movement, is an active mine not marked with a beacon, you have a 50% chance to trigger it.

Comes-too-late starts urgently repairing his ship, restoring two health, which might be sufficient to survive another round or two. (At least sufficiently to not be killed this round : 2(health)+2(repair)-3(enemy damage)=1)

...---...
Public frequencies: "To attacking ships: Do not shoot! We are on a peaceful mission to clear this area of mines to ensure safety of commercial trade routes. I repeat: please do not shoot."
...---...
Mission frequencies: "Mayday, mayday to all ships in range. Three enemy contacts on I6. I repeat 3 enemy ships on I3.
I am under attack. I need help."
