Civ V OOC: And the Rest is History.....

Post by BadgeAddict » Thu Oct 03, 2013 12:09 pm

May as well bring the comments over here so as not to fill up the game with spoilers, comments and possibly roleplaying.

And, to start things off:

1. Does anyone have any ideas for professions this time around? (using the normal method of Profession 1, Profession 2, Hobby)

Warmaster(army leader), either with some battle magic knowledge or without it.

Sorceror(Far better and more versatile at magic that the warmaster could be, but with no combat knowledge)

Maybe more later.

Edit: Not necessarily for me, personally. I'm not sure what character i am going to be yet.

What profession I take depends on what race I pick, which sort of depends on what races are still alive in five turns time! :D

Have a few ideas in mind though.

I imagine at least a few faction leaders or diplomats may remain.

*grins* In fact, i am actually thinking of PLAYING a pony, now that they're there. I also wanted to play a goblin which united the lesser factions to have a voice, but with the Lizards ruled by GM seeing this as some kind of celestial thing, that way is closed. Centaur would be my other main approach, with Drow coming after that. While Lizards and Gripplis are cool, I just, well... I like a certain attractiveness in my characters...

I am likely going to play, well... It depends on what is still there when I am able to call a character.

Pony Amazon-Flying Wizard and/or Warhorse... Just need someone to play the Rider... Centaur would also go with this.
Also, well, as my Library-idea from last time got included as a new aspect (God, I am PROUD!), I could as well play a Knowledge-hunter... Or I go to bussiness and play a greedy character which tries in Morale by opening a brothel (Him getting a fair share), thieves guild (Who sas, we shouldn't steal from allies ? And why ? We just don't should get caught...) or a gambling hall (The house always wins in the end... B ut we are letting the Kroxigor win... It's the best strategy, R2-D2...).

No, really, not sure. I want to know, wehere and what I am before.

But I was looking forward to the asshole-monsters poisionous gas attacks. Besides, how can I run the floating island on unicorn-rainbow-farts as an evil wizard if I can't magicaly merge the ponies with the asshole-monsters? You've got to be thinking ahead in this game. ;)

Kind of a pity that with our selection of creature races, we still can't narrow down the classification of footprint. Like hooved(pony/centaur), reptilian(lizardman), amphibian(grippli), mammalian(wemic)... At least, we can rule out humanoid.

Front two feet three-toed (think Velociraptor), back two elephant like. Nothing you'd have ever seen before, so I didn't bother to bring it up. I will in the 600.01 update though.

We should send in the ponies as our front line against this threat. aka - Pony shield project, PSP

But we have more Gripplis or Drow... So we can afford to loose a few of them... Ponies should be bred first...

Great idea Fey, thanks...

I'm not sure breeding will be quick enough even if they do want to do it - I have no idea of the reproductive cycle of MLP ponies, but real life ones gestate for the better part of a year.

In previous Civs goblins were fast, getting new members once every like two years fully added. Drow and other races aren't as fast as gobs (maybe 3 years, we'll see), and the other races present not much better. With such a low population to start with I'm not sure if you have enough to viably start a program, so to speak...

I was under the impression that MLP ponies were born from pure friendship and rainbows. :P

And yeah, in the literature i've read, Drow(and elves in general) take at least twice as long as humans to reach full maturity, so with the time frame of this game it's not really feasible. Maybe we could get more population from having other clans join us?

As long as you remember, that the existence of the drow domination is your fault martin.

Oh, I'll own up to that gladly. they're powerful enough and live long enough to more than make up for it, Even if they weren't as awesome as they are.

I'm actually adding a degree of difficulty to the new year --- if your "tribe" isn't united (as is currently the case, it's just a loose herding of various races caught in a bad situation) then I roll reaction rolls every year. Given Drow have the permanent social penalty of two levels (a -4 to all rolls)... heh. On the one hand it risks fracturing the tribe hard. On the other hand, each successful roll adds EXP to Social and People, so it might end up not mattering if enough rolls are made since I'm setting a difficulty of 60+ on such a roll. (this also means it counts for action points for your characters later, plus it counts toward success/failed actions for purposes of gaining extra action points at the end of the year).

Eeeeeeeyup. They get names, a race (from the starting tribe), a profession (something they're good at), a skill (something they're somewhat good at) and a hobby (not so good at but still good).
