Do I have to specify what I'm doing with the tokens? Whether I'm spawning with or equipping them? Do I risk losing them if I blow up while holding one?
If you don't specify anything, they stay in their current state (for example: 1 equipped, 1 in stash). You can only change them when you are not actively play on the map (aka wait), so you have to state those things only if you want a change.

If your question is related to how to use the active tokens, well, you have to figure out / try to do actions with them as you would with unknown equipment: for example if you have an active skill token with a madly running figure, you may state "I try to run on row 1 as far as I can" and see whether you manage it or not. For easiness, once a token is guessed correctly, I will describe it somewhere visible for reference. (Tokens may have hidden features and synergies, but these will be only described if you find them out too ;) )

You don't risk losing a token by dying. Active skills might get stolen by thieves, disabled by magic, falling out by malicious traps... None of your concern on the training map. :) (And I have to see when to add these, but probably won't do it as long as you guys don't steamroll the map... >:D )

Indeed you did. It was a 50/50 shot. I had a gut feeling L1 was more likely safe, but there was no rational basis for it that I could see. OTOH, K1 gave me opportunities to flag J0 and J1. So I figured I'd give it a try. Like I said... oh well.
