Re: Rating wars II: Electric boogaloo (round 1)
That actually was the first thing I decided. I knew the paralyzing strikes would be useless, so it would come down to an elemental attack. My first plan was to use the humidity (the main reason I mentioned it, it was to be a sort of Chekov's gun) to freeze the suit in place, but ultimately went with lightning welding because it seemed cooler. I liked the depth you gave my character, I'm definitely going to be using your story as an example for any stories I write in the future

Re: Rating wars II: Electric boogaloo (round 1)
A heads up - Tomorrow the matchups for round two will be revealed. The contest will last a week, until the end of the following Sunday.
The results will be released depending on if all the judges get back to me by that time. If not, the results will be posted asap.

To everyone who is convinced there entry 'sucked' just aim to do better next time. In all honesty you'd probably be surprised at how close some of the rounds actually will be.

I didn't think that mine sucked. I could've done better, but I was happy with it. It's just that yours was clearly better haha

Re: Rating wars II: Electric boogaloo (round 1)
Alright! It is time to begin round 2! And I am also very glad to announce the fact I just received the final piece of feedback from the judges. So I'll stall no longer. I present to you, the winners of round 1, as well as the matchups for round two...
Round 1 winners
Psychotic's Donovan defeats Runsaround's Robert!
Vidius's The Rasping Suit defeats AccursedBiscuit's Tibiscu!
Dusk9's Kane defeats Arch Lich Burns's Rex!
A great round overall, with some strong competitors and no doubt the players probably think the scores were far wider than they actually turned out to be. Regardless, as this is only the first round, regardless of your loss you may make it up in the next match you will be pitted against- One of you (un)lucky guys getting to have another go immediately in this round. For now however, we move on to...
Round 2: matchups
Lingrem's Naklin versus Ramsa's Konor Dunai
Location: The river pass
A large, brutal river has long etched it's way into the landscape, it's flow going from west to east. Perhaps to some it is blessing, a source of relatively clean water and food, fish plenty in it's stream. But now, for you, it is nothing more than an obstacle. Bridges between the two shores are sparse, and more often than not, run-down. Still- One way or another, you must find a way to pass it. The fact someone else probably looks to do the same, will not make things easier.
I'mBob's Mazugord versus Loki's Felix McMaster
Location: The mountain path
Insanity. That is what... Pretty much everyone would call it. Yes- Taking this particular path would cut travel time with probably a whole month rather than going around it. That being said, the particular path was a winding, narrow path, going high up into the mountains stuck in an endless blizzard. A simple misstep could lead to one plummeting to his death. Which is why it's said you must be insane to risk your life, only to try and cut down time.
It appears that we deal with two insane people, if it is truly the case...
Arydra's Firorn versus Arch Lich Burns's Rex
Location: The Maker's temple
The maker. A being supposedly so powerful it created everything that is known- Even the gods. This created many opinions through the people- Most often those are found to be disbelief. Then there were those who did. And some of those would come to worship it, raising a temple in his name. They hoped that one day his vision would fall upon them, and that he would bestow his "loyal followers" with powers beyond those the gods themselves could supply.
But it never did. And one by one the followers dwindled, eventually leaving nothing behind of the order, besides the temple they had created. A temple two individuals would travel through on their quest to retrieve part of it's power...
Good luck to all participants- And may the strongest win... Entries will close next week Sunday, again 23.59pm forum time.

Re: Rating wars II: Electric boogaloo (round 2)
Sorry. I rolled randomly between the 6 participants from round 1 and it picked you.
That being said... I suppose if the other participants have no issue with it, I can have it rerolled. Would in two weeks from now really come out better for you then right now?

Ugh, almost done with my first draft. I think it might be to long, but I would hate to eliminate any of it.

I'm surprised you already have a first draft! I thought that pretty much everyone stalled until the very last moment... Still, good for you.

Pfft, silly people! Don't you know the best way to win is to wait until the last minute, then write 5000 words in two days
