Dodger flexes at his amazing one shot of the last monster, very proud of himself. He feels his attacks are getting stronger, and looks forward to continuing his part of combat with the group. He accepts the Cutlass from Licks and makes it his main weapon, then checks the chest for any armor or books for thieves, or any daggers he can wield alongside the cutlass.

Soul waits for the loot, if there is a book of magic he picks it up and reads it.

Licks passes the cutlass to Dodger and takes the time to scrape off any acid still left on his leg very carefully
Then, he tries to scavenge any useful body parts from the skelli-snakes. Maybe they had an acid gland (the one with the acid bite attack), or the blades from their arms or backs could be put to good use? Or more snake skin...
If he doesn't find anything, he tries to skin the water snake's body parts he's carrying with him, in order to get snake hide, without hurting the flesh chunks too much (they could still come in handy when meeting any beasts, e.g. owlbears).

erm, what does the gnaw ability do again? Can he eat fallen opponents to regain health or something? If so, have him eat the snake part (without any blades in it) of one of the skellisnakes.
If we are still on voting duty, that is. Have you found a temporary player yet?

But don't let him gnaw on the poison one, he might poison himself if he bites the gland.

I also put an advertisement for this game in mine.

He can gnaw on creatures or objects and gain temporary magical buffs based on what he gnawed on.

Right, sorry about the absence, I've been working a lot this week

I've messaged WhirdCheese again, and found someone who'll take over Worf as a permanent position in a few weeks time if he doesn't get back by then.

Until then, if you could, when you post an action, post a vote for Worf as well.

New update will be up in an hour or so :)

Turn 51

Image

Dodger cracks open the chest to find the sweet, delicious loot inside. He finds 20 [Shiny Golden Discs] and a [Red Book o' Tricks], which he hands to Soul, who reads it. Worf tries to Gnaw on the skelesnakes, but finds that, like the Dretches, they have melted away back into whatever hellish dimension they came from. Sees investigates the [Orb of Magical Essence] with his shield, to which it bonds. It now provides a [Fire Shield: Any enemy that fails in an attack against the wielder suffers an Ember at an ATK equal to the wielder's DEF -2.]. Licks gets busy skinning the [Water Snake Bodyparts], ending up with a [Roll of Rare Snakeskin: Looks pricy.] and some [Snakemeat: Looks... delicious.].

Soul notices one of the gems on his staff light up.

Oh cool, hadn't noticed I have the highest attack. Which considering when I get off a successful sneak attack probably add a bit of damage, that's cool.

Anyone have an issue if I take the gold discs and go use that vending machine?

Nvm, I see they were automatically added to me.

Dodger goes up the ladder and Stealths, keeping an ear out.

Sees wonders what happened to his shield, but as it still seems to be solid, he takes care of more important things. He heals Soul, Worf and himself for 1 hp each, before he climbs up the ladder again.

Up there he collects the worm theeth and tries to break/cut off pieces of it's armor/hide. If that is not possible, he follows the others into the main room.

OOC: Can somebody please post the map again? Not sure how the rooms are connected and if I remember all of them correctly.

Licks checks out if this chest has a false bottom and a ladder leading someplace, too, and if yes, he climbs down. If not, he climbs up, instead.

@ JibJib: was what Sees has on his shield now one of the orbs that fell out of the ceiling in the tree room, and then bolted wherever or was this a new, previously unknown orb?

Licks verifies the chest is indeed empty before heading up with a stealthy Dodger...

Sees and Soul speed off ahead into the machine room...

... and Worf, voteless, daydreams.

OoC: A couple of things: firstly, I made slight logistical booboo, and there was meant to be another machine part in the chest, so I've added it to Dodger. Also, as we're getting to the end of this section, I wanted to ask you guys if there was anything you were unhappy with or didn't like in the game, be it balancing or art or whatever, so I can fix it in the next one. Lastly, please vote for Worf, he'll get lonely in that dark, smelly cave :P

Sees follows Soul to the vendor machine and heal him for 2 hp and himself for 1 on the way.

Please let Worf walk with the last of us if we leave a room, that way he won't be left back. :)

OOC: I know somebody created a map, can you please repost it? Thanks in advance.

@JibJib about the game:
I liked the game so far, only the speed was some time a bit high. We did not have time to get back to full health between some fights, cause there was no pause and some people ran from one enemy to the next, eager to fight. At the moment I feel like it will be hard to get everybody to full health before the next fight, if we continue like this. Maybe some kind of double or tripple healing action would be nice after a fight, for example heal three times instead of 1 after a strong boss, two times after random encounters. That way we would not need "regeneration turns" and still could split up after a battle to do things, without the injured being forced to stick with the healer or the other way around. What you think about this idea? :)

Also, it felt like the nice ridles didn't get enough attention, it was a bit too hectically for my taste.

I really would like to see a game map in each update. You don't have to update it every turn, every 5 or 10 would be enough. Just so we do not get lost or miss a room cause we cannot remember where it was. ;)

So, basically, all that is left to do is buy the machine part (and whatever else we can afford) and see what the device, when completed, does?

Also, out of curiosity: Will we likely be able to return to this section again later when/if we find more gold, or do we have to "shop till we drop" now, as we can't anymore once we leave this area?

Basically I'm pretty happy with the game as it is. There's lots of loot, fighting, still no one died (or got close to that) yet *ptui, ptui = spitting so I don't jinx it ;) *, and the story (what is up with those trogs?) is interesting, too.

Which reminds me: I think there was something written back in the room with the hay pile and the skeleton (where Licks got his axe), could you maybe please re-post that?
And the stories that Sees read in the purple (?) book, too? You could put it into the first post of this thread for easier future reference.

Licks tries to cut off the "tentacles" of the worm (the pink, thin stuff), if successful, pockets them and moves right.

Vote for Worf (didn't we get a new player for him at some point?): move up and gnaw the sandworm remains. (I want to try this out for once.)
