5 August 2013: Collision Avoidance

(Is it really a permalink if it points to goblinscomic.org?)

That is not how I expected him to turn his armor blue. :)

EDIT: Added link to .com at Krulle's suggestion.

And now we know where the blue armor comes from
(And just how formidable three kins, one spider and a dwarf can be when you screw up your math)

Measure twice, teleport once...
There are worlds out there where the sky is burning...where the seas sleep and the rivers dream. People made of smoke, and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger. Somewhere there's injustice. Somewhere else, the tea is getting Cold. C'mon Ace, we've got work to do! - The Doctor (Sylvester McCoy, last line in the old series)

It's been a while since I've been first in with the update thread. But if I had, I'd have called this "Roses are red, Sapphires come in all shades of the rainbow except red because red Sapphires are called Rubies."
The old name was Twocoo. The avatar is the scariest thing in Wizardry I, circa 1981.

Coming from computer networking, I always thought that if anyone ever invented teleportation, packet collisions would be something best avoided. :) I was reminded of Douglas Adams' rhyme:
I teleported home last night with Ron and Sid and Meg
Ron stole Meggy's heart away and I got Sidney's leg.

Bwahahaa! Been there, done that, unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) with less cool situations than teleportation.

I can't help imagining PsiMax showing up and saying something like, "Finally! And to think all I had to do to get you to draw your sword was die." And then MinMax gets to kill him twice.

Disappointing is kind of harsh, I mean, it has a dollop of humor thrown in there. Just getting to the next plot point or whatnot.
LooksAtYouFunny wrote:Hehe.... 3rd panel... somehow I think Thunt forgot a mouth :P
AHHH it bugs me, but I think it's on purpose, he did it also to Yodette and I think whatever the halfling's name is when Junior fell out of the sky. Having no mouth in comics is always awkward looking to me, unless it's been like that from the very beginning.

Anyone else notice that's like, the exact same looking pose on the tackle Forgath did when Minmax stood up out of being pulled out of those jewel venus flytraps?
Blue is cool and all but I liked the black armor the best, easily :(

Yay for everyone being back together! I was seriously starting to fret about Minmax being separated from the group.

Well, that was an anticlimactic way for Minmax to turn blue and draw his sword. But it's probably just as well. This update made me smile.

Well, you know... after the climax, that's when you do get the anti-climax. It feels right to have a bit of comedy after the Tower Room.

A large part of what made me grin on this page was imagining how hard Thunt must have been laughing as we all speculated about dire dramatic situations where MinMax's armour was going to turn blue -- when all the while, he had this set up to happen!

I wonder...

"When the serpent becomes your prey, friends will become enemies and love will fuel hate."

Does Minmax's call to roll for initiative with the Kinship count as "becoming prey?"

I for one prefer any color other than black in this case, as it conceals the cool detail of his armor. My favorite so far was the white (largely due to Morikahn's shading of it), but we haven't seen it be green, which is what I'd most like to see.

Umm, this is either a mistake, or a time distortion plot point connected to killing Psimax twice.

Our Minmax grabs Oblivous with the wrong hand.

He grabbed it with one hand and switched it to the other maybe? Thunt doesn't always show people switching their weapon from one hand to the other. Though it would have made sense showing him drawing it with his left.

And the same as after "It's trying to summon a demon!". Forgath probably makes a habit of readying an action to tackle Minmax if he ever tries to start a fight without thinking it through first.

Ha! Yeah I remember that, outside of Brassmoon :)

As for black concealing the details, true, I'd give you that. I'd want to see, hm...grey, maybe? Whenever he has colors, I keep thinking he's some weird samurai or Power Ranger or something :P PERIWINKLE!

And I want Thunt to either acknowledge the hand thing as a mistake or just say that he switched hands, IT WILL FOREVER BUG ME.

Agreed, gray was also a good look for him. As to the hand thing, it might be yet more foreshadowing - perhaps there is indeed still a battle in MM's future, as long as he doesn't change colors again we're good. It might be a mistake, but Thunt doesn't seem to make a lot of those.

Even just the change from black to blue has brought out lots of the cool detail of his armour - I'd be perfectly happy for it to stay like this for a while :)
All hail the power of the stick!
