free comic book on May 4

Post by ThroughTheWell » Thu Apr 04, 2013 11:45 am

http://www.freecomicbookday.com/

I'm not affiliated with this in any way, and I just heard about it, but, it does sound good. Check your local store for participation and policies, but you might be able to get a free comic book on May 4. (Maybe USA only, I don't know.) I read a bit more on the site, and it looks like the free comics are a limited selection. Still, a couple looked interesting.

Free Comic Book Day is great! Usually you won't walk away with a book, it'll be a magazine-issue sized comic. But in the early days I remember snagging a couple of sampler anthologies from Tokyopop... also look out for your local store doing additional sales to coincide with FCBD.

The comics are listed here: http://www.freecomicbookday.com/Home/1/1/27/981
From memory, Gold means that pretty much every store participating in FCBD will have those titles available. Silver means most. Your local store will almost definitely have other titles available too - either from smaller artists/publishers making individual arrangements with the store or FCBD stock from past years.

You can look up what stores near you are participating on their website, which also includes a search for non-US stores.

The "Store Locator" needs a a different search approach.
Cologne (K├Âln), Germany, is twice in the list ("KOELN", "Koln"), and each one shows one shop participating, with two different shops in total.
You cannot have a list loaded for all shops in the Netherlands.
4 cities are listed for the Netherlands, out of which one seems to be a double entry ("Amsterdam N-W"), but only in one you can find a result ("Amsterdam").

But this is the wrong forum to complains about that.

To all those getting one: have fun!

Sweet. This year they have A Dark Horse Star Wars shortie and a new Superman feature in the Gold lineup, as well as Atomic Robo & The Tick in Silver... OH! And a two arc Reprint from the old Buck Rogers Sunday serials before I was born... *Gets all nostalgic*
