Right, but I suspect the odds of our party as staggering zombies blindly wandering into the Maze are astronomical; look how far out of their way they had to go. The 'treasure plant' nearly got MM, and I think they were going uphill. More likely that this is our party in a world where everyone is a zombie, like the parties we've seen where everyone is The Hulk, or everyone's got cats, or everyone yells "Brow" a lot, etc. Of course, it could be more like the variants where Kin had Dellyn's druidic power or MM had Junior as an arm, and this is our party bitten by zombies while MM was deciding not to totally pee on it, and in that case, they'd be unable to win but might also be technically 'dead' to the Maze.
I'm assuming there's no Overseer like Noe to guard the Maze, but it could be that it saw PsiMax about to wipe out the current Maze-runners and himself, leaving the Maze intact, and shrugged. A bunch of Kins taking it over might make it angry, unless it saw their plan was to gain xp and loot and then leave the Maze intact. So if there was a loop, some bored minor demon might appear and press a Cosmic Reset Button to throw the survivors back out of the Maze, to enter again or retreat in consternation.

Well, the vote is very clear on that, until now. (Go, vote here) (33 PsiMax, 0 PsyMax, 5 "don't care")
And yet I still see many writing PsyMax.... Either they don't vote, or they skip reading signatures.....

Ok, I am just popping in to weigh in on a thought that I had. Have we seen the death of the blue colored alt-max yet? I don't remember him getting splishked... is it possible that he now makes an appearance, causing our Min Max to comment on his blue color (thus causing his armor to change color)? Just a thought. We will find out soon (maybe).

Oh, and sorry if someone else had this theory already. I haven't seen it in my lurking, but apologize if I missed it.

I guess I will go back to lurking again.

stevedj wrote:You know... those are fine theories about the MoM. But, let's suppone one other theory, ok?

Suppose that the MoM does NOT have any failsafes as propsed above. Then, suppose it had indeed entered a state of "infinite loop" - that is, all the groups currently within the maze always die w/o a winner. Yes, including PsiMax (at least, until he broke his counter - and we have no idea what count it was up to when he did).

So, it would be interesting if PsiMax was, in a deranged sort of way, trying to "fix things" -- to get everyone out of the hell they were in (or something like that - I forget how he said it).
This theory has actually been proposed a number of times, but I don't think it's very likely. If you read Psimax's dialogue to his kin before he killed her, he was constantly talking about how horrible life was in a general sense. There was nothing specific to the maze, it was all: Life causes pain, therefore life is bad; I'm going to make it so you never lived; isn't that cool? If he only meant their life in the maze, then he was being woefully vague in his language.

According to Psimax, he is doing this because it is the best thing to do, not because it is the only thing to do.

Don't go back to lurking. I don't remember reading that theory. It seems to make sense too.

Well, this one is worth registering for. You know, just to say lol.

Nice years-in-the-making plot point. Wonder how many more things like that are waiting for us?

Well, Kore is going to be killed with a pointy stick, so there's that.

If you want to go back to the very beginning for plot devices, then Kore should take a page out of the Paladin's Handbook, where Rule 38 states: "When the minions of evil start calling dibs on your gear, pray or run." Anyone want to call dibs on those gauntlets?

Meh on his gauntlets, but I call dibs on the two self-reloading repeating heavy crossbows.

The amount of fake mustaches that could be made from his beard....

I think the reason that someone wouldn't be satisfied with the death of PsiMax is that they expected too much from an Achilles heel character. It's almost impossible to make their deaths super climactic because of their nature. You either stumble upon their weakness by chance or deduce it and take him out fairly quickly. This time they had both.

The drama could of been played up if PsiMax died slowly with his shattered delusions of grandeur, but the dude was an annoying jerk. Getting his head popped like a rotten watermelon was much more appropriate.
