Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Still, you're adventurers, not scholars! And you're still of average or slightly above-average intelligence across the board.
I also think that 5e gives you FAR more reasons to use DEX- and CHA- based builds than STR- and INT- in general so having that array of scores across a party isn't too surprising to be honest. You'll just solve more problems by leaping out the way than punching stuff

For sure. DEX is the super stat (AC and ranged/finesse attacks), while CHA is socially useful as well as being the casting ability for 4 classes. WIS also comes up a lot on Perception checks, and is casting for 3 classes and adds to Monk AC.
As the monk of the party, I'll probably be close to even with leaping and punching.thinkslogically wrote:You'll just solve more problems by leaping out the way than punching stuff

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Yeah, no skills from CON, but HP is good for everyone, and casters want a decent CON if they are going to casting any spells that take concentration.

So you're saying con has its pros.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
I'm about to go to bed. And I'll be pretty busy with the family for the next week and a half. So, like I said, feel free to autopilot. I'll check in sporadically. Kal plans to search the area near the broken fence and disturbed hive(s) to identify the intruder. Hopefully his elven eyes are good enough to spot something useful without needing to get too close to the agitated bees. Too bad Syli can't talk them down for us.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Makes sense to me, although I do think there might be cases where it might make sense where someone could potentially help with a knowledge check (like, say, research, where you've got one person taking initiative and then a second assisting with materials and such). But those are more the exception than the rule.thinkslogically wrote:((So, I think knowledge checks like this probably shouldn't get advantage from 'Help' and should probably be separate rolls, simply because they reflect what you guys know individually. I'm not sure that "helping" actually makes any sense in this context.... It hasn't mattered on the last 2 checks anyway so nothing changes there. Any comments from you guys on that?)).

It's a werebear. Primary suspect is the farmer due to alignment: lg, knowing where the honey is, and grey fur-hair. Whomever it is we cannot kill it.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
haha! Yeah...
On a slightly meta sidenote, you won't ever have to rely on specific dice rolls to move a particular plot forwards. They will 100% definitely affect HOW you achieve something and how well / smoothly you do it, but you're never going to completely fail a mission or quest just with a bunch of bad rolls (TPKs not withstanding!).

Passive checks *mostly* pertain to Perception checks, but other passive checks can be employed at DM discretion.

So I've spent the evening screwing around in photoshop to try and learn a few new bits and pieces, and made you guys some travel maps They're rough as hell and not very interesting at the moment (especially the river one; mostly because I can't draw complicated things), but you guys are the only ones who'll care even a little bit so I figured I might as well share them here

Thanks! I wanted to try out the style more than anything, but the SotG one was the last one I sketched up so had a bit more attention to content rather than just colours and gradientsDlover wrote:Hah, those are pretty damn cool, Thinks. Especially the Seat of the Gods.

I'm hoping work gets less hectic pretty shortly, so I can post a bit more frequently. Right now, I'm not getting spare time for anything other than sleep (and even that's coming in limited portions).
