Mister Scruffy, obviously. We presume you are not a housecat owner, else you would almost certainly understand.

We have cats. Three who live here and three strays who stop by for food from time to time. They're mostly 'fraidy cats, though. Our little one who used to smack the dog on the nose passed away last fall.

Well, at least they are finally addressing the matter of Durkula. He's not completely stupid after all.

I love the different drawing styles.
Also, not much subtext left... Could have been me trying to tell that story as a "subtext story".

heh, I didn't see that. Deep Friend Fungus seems to be a spelling error. I only saw the "n" because you pointed it out to me.
The first reference I ever saw to deep fried fungus is in one of my all-time-favourite video games.

3 or 4 people noted this to Rich on twitter. He didn't correct it, but posted that "Apparently, the main purpose of social media is to point out my typos."
I still don't understand, is that a typo or not.

SM=Social Media. What did you think?
We'll have to find out someday, whether a fungus is a deep friend and sold at market stalls, or whether fungus has been deep fried and sold as a kind of sweet to Dwarfen kids.

Probably was a typo. Possibly, Rich retconned it in his own mind after the fact. I'm sure the dwarves have a number of deep friends, some of which may cultivate fungus..

I hope that you are wrong and that it was just a throwaway joke. Otherwise, what's the point of this entire scene?

That the giant will have a summer break, and continue the story when the clique exits the meeting, and everything might be told in 4th-wall flashbacks.
The flashbacks will also point out that even a comic is considered to violate the prohibition of depiction. Although a description or an account is also prohibited.
So either this story line ends here, or it is a throwaway joke. ( And I hope for the latter.)

He'll just won't have to show the events of the meetings. He'll show the events that Durkula will be involved with and we know for sure that Durkula's agenda is far from "participating in the meeting".

Probably not terribly relevant to the story, either - just a moot point.
