Yeah it's like 25 feet to the bank without a run-up :)

Mage hand and goodberries would work, though they don't offer much healing.

Still below decks, Syli starts making preparations to examine the magic around the crate more carefully with a ritual, drawing druidic symbols on the floor and humming to herself.

Kal, passing the hatch on his patrol of the deck,
calls down. "I'm pretty sure that's the owners coming. Did you find any survivors?"

Syli glances up from her drawing. "None. Whatever happened to this boat happened very thoroughly. Now if you don't mind, I'm trying to make sure everything's safe here. Or safe as can be, given circumstances."

((I had a quick look at your sheets and I don't see anyone with ranged healing abilities so we'll move on)).

Syli opts to stay down in the bowels of the ship, and prepares to begin her ritual. A little less than a minute later, the horses arrive on the north bank of the river. There are six guards in uniform, with a man and woman who are riding very well-bred horses and wearing practical, but obviously fancy clothing. The guards are armed and seem ready to deal with whatever threat they're facing, pulling crossbows and bows on the group when they spot Korrik on the roof and Kal on the back deck.

Thaquorel's friend from earlier has not returned with this group.

Two of the guards shout challenges simultaneously: "Identify yourselves!"
"Surrender!"

"Help! I'm stuck up here and there is a boat tied to this and I want to go on my way safety! There were some ruffians on long boats that wanted to steal this big boat but they got scared away."

Persuasion or Deception? it's not really a lie but I'm not sure?

Mehr comes to the side of the ship where he can speak with the newcomers, speaking directly to the well-dressed pair, "My guess is you're from the merchant families? My employees have been protecting the ship for you, and a good thing they did, considering there were people with hatchets. I'd suggest helping that dragonborn there, he can handle the explanation once he recovers. We'd have helped him ourselves, but we're stuck out here."

Mehr said everything Kal wanted to cover for starters, and he's better suited to say it. Kal looks all sincere and earnest and paladiny.

He does, however, look them over.

The guards are confused by Gwen's call for help, but then Mehriv steps forward and addresses the presumed merchants directly. The guards are surprised to see another nobly dressed person on board, and lower their weapons uncertainly.

"Aye, we're of the Larkhall family and this is our ship! I'm grateful to you for minding it until we arrived. Calum, throw that lad a rope and move the ship to the bank."

The other well-dressed young man hurriedly grabs a rope and climbs down from his horse, and tosses the end to Korrik before looping it deftly around a tree.

"All right, if your people would please move onto the bridge and untie your side, we'll bring it over to the bank and you can open the bridge. Since you were here, we have questions for you if you would."

Kal watches the folk on the bank. They seem like the sorts of people who are used to giving orders and having them obeyed...

((Thaqorel is on the other side of the river. I guess you'll need to open the bridge to help him.))

Gwen has no idea how to operate this bridge and pretty sure it's a bad idea to work on it anyways. She waits on the bridge to wait for some assistance.

I catch the rope in one hand, and hold it.

"Mehr! Didn't Thaquorel say the boat belonged to the Morley's?", I hiss under my breath, while keeping a smile up for appearances.

Insight on Calum and his boss.: 1D20+4 = [15]+4 = 19

((I may want to do something with the rope, depending on what insight check gets me, or how Mehr responds.))

((Gwen would have seen Thaqorel opening the bridge with the mechanism earlier. It looked very simple.))

Korrik checks over the two men. He gets the impression that they may be overstating their importance, but they and the guardsmen are certainly behaving as though they have every right to be here and to claim the ship. The name is certainly not the one Thaqorel gave you earlier though...

You've not heard the name before, but to be honest, you don't really know too much about the political comings and goings of the town. You know that a group of wealthy merchant families run the city effectively as an independent city state, but you've not really had much to do with any of them before.

The first man gives Korrik a look of disdain and doesn't answer, instead addressing Mehriv.

"Dragonman! Have your boy tie off the rope! He is wasting time."

I move to "tie" it, but I let the rope "accidentally" slip from my fingers into the river.

Sleight of Hand: Rope dropping: 1D20+4 = [7]+4 = 11

Yea but....Gwen isn't going to do it unless she knows it's safe. She's broken a lot of things recently and bridge is not going to be one of them. She is going to watch the exchange.

Insight: 1D20+1 = [2]+1 = 3
She sees nothing wrong with what is going on.
