I'm fine with either, though Korrik, Varsk and Kal might notice her eyes glow slightly....

(She is not going to tell them with Varsk around just yet. She does not want a stranger know her
dealings and not know if he'll be quiet about it or not. She also wants to put it off.)

While we wait to find out which watch Mehriv and Syli would like to attach to, let's have perception checks from the first watch (Korrik and Varsk)

Mehr'll take last watch, when there's hopefully a little early morning light, since he doesn't have darkvision.
My game:
Hunters of Letrua; Character list
Also Player / Monster stats, skill lists.

My characters:
Tugs Tails, the goblin that was sort of a trapper and wears a bear's tail at his neck, for some reason - Lair of the Mountain King (Run by Thinks)
Alex Sparo, A city boy, poor of sight, who has learned to manipulate people and make the most of what he, and others, have - Trinity Isles (Run by Mort)
Mehriv Turajin, a Noble Dragonborn Sorcerer sent from his clan because he wasn't dragony enough. - The Wandering Archipelago (Run by Thinks)

In that case, Syli will take second watch. She'll conjure up some fresh goodberries (after distributing the ones she already has, eating one herself), but otherwise keep watch quietly.

Before I forget: Perception, visions: 1D20+1 = [19]+1 = 20
1D20 = [2] = 2

Woo! Her visions are way worse than other nights but not exhaustion level bad.

Korrik will notice that Varsk's eyes narrow slightly in brief suspicious scrutiny, though nothing really hostile.

He will accept the goodberry with a nod of thanks but will watch the others eat theirs first before sampling a small portion of his and saving the rest for later.

During his watch Varsk tries to get a better feel for what is normal in the jungle but isn't familiar enough to know what is unusual and what isn't.

Perception 5+4= 9

((Not sure if his dark vision helps here?))

((Dark vision helps insofar as you don't have disadvantage on your perception checks :)))

Korrik and Varsk settle down to start their watch while the others settle down to sleep. Varsk is kind of twitchy the whole time, being unused to the sounds of the swamp, which makes Korrik even more nervous in turn... There's just something odd about this campsite that bothers him and he can't put his finger on it.

Eventually getting up to w stretch his muscles and try and take his mind off things, his eyes settle on a discarded waterskin and then return to the scattered remains of the old campfire, before he realises that whoever was here last must have left in a hurry... He turns quickly, nudging Varsk as he hears a strange, high-pitched whining sound from the trees nearby, and it's getting closer!

Varsk quickly rises and grips his maul, not hearing the noise at first but quickly picking it up from the direction Korrik is indicating. He will immediately move to the nearest sleeping members of the group and nudge them awake and will indicate that Korrik do likewise. He will try to think if he knows what makes the noise he is hearing.

He edges back to Korrik and whispers "Hissing swarm?"

((It's pretty dark now right?))

Insight 1d20+2= 21

((let's have initiative rolls, and I'll take a nature check from Varsk))

It is dark enough to count as dim light. Let's say you've got some good light from the full moon and a clear sky.

Initiative: 1D20+4 = [2]+4 = 6

*I'd probably wake Gwen first, and quietly gesture for her to do her mind thing to wake folks up... quietly.

Gwen gasps as she wakes up, still perceiving it partially as her nightmare as she glances around herself. She quickly holds onto her necklace, ready to strike at the unknown horrors.

initative: 1D20+3 = [17]+3 = 20

EDIT: When she gets up she uses her mental abilities to get everybody up. <We got trouble!>

Quietly: "That might draw it to us quicker. Maybe make a light over the water nearby so we can see what comes out... if it is attracted to the light.

Varsk steadies himself, his mind buzzing with worry as he remembers what Raina said about the hissing swarm... He could be wrong, but this sounds different to what she described. This sounds more like really loud mosquitoes or something, and there's definitely no hissing. Hopefully this isn't worse...

Syli's a bit slow to rouse; one of these days, she'd really have to look into that "trancing" thing all the elves are on about nowadays...

Kal comes instantly awake, as his mother taught him.

Initiative: 1D20+1 = [10]+1 = 11

It still takes a moment to get his bearings. He listens intently and tries to place the sound.

Nature: 1D20+3 = [16]+3 = 19

Kal is awake quickly, and then sighs as he hears the tell-tale whine of a swarm of stirges coming their way... These bugs are like giant mosquitoes but with even fewer endearing qualities. In his village, they tended to attack livestock, swarming on one or two animals at a time and draining the blood from them in moments before flying back into the woods. They had to put more than a few goats out of their misery over the years after the damn things flew through...

Gwen is blasting with eldritch blast!
<Merhiv, maybe you can cast light on something far away to divide it's attention.>

Eldrich blast : 1D20+6 = [5]+6 = 11
1D10 = [7] = 7
