All right then

The deer trail is easy enough to follow, but it branches and meanders through the trees and the group struggle to keep track of their quarry. Fortunately, Mehirv is once again on it, and after only a brief detour around a dead bird, he eventually manages to lead them to a large, hollow tree:
Let's have a group stealth check please! (Everyone rolls and we need half of you to succeed to make it a success)

Still a mediocre roll, but at least I have a +6 on stealth?

Stealth: 1D20+6 = [6]+6 = 12

Syli trips and bumps into Kal, who straight up knocks Darruk over.

Stealth: 1D20 + 1 = [4]+1 = 5
Stealth: 1D20 = [4] = 4

You are pretty certain that if anyone or anything is nearby, it will certainly be aware of you. Saying that, other than a couple of lizards scampering around the tree roots, you don't notice anything particularly out of the ordinary as you walk up.

I'll take Perception checks first from anyone who wants them, and let's set up some initiative rolls now in case they're helpful

Initiative: 15

Wow, the dice sure loooove us, don't they? At least we generally seem pretty decent at initiative rolls.

Syli's on alert, moving slowly and cautiously as they draw closer to the tree.

As the party approach the old tree, Kal, Gwen and Syli hear a sudden, but quiet thump from somewhere inside, followed by a light scratching and scrabbling sound.

Tensing themselves for some terrifying creature, the group are rather relieved when a small brown squirrel pops its head out of a hole in the trunk and chirps loudly at them.

Syli's keen eyes notice an odd bundle of twigs and leaves hidden in the shadows inside the hollow that don't look quite natural, but she'd need to get closer to be sure.

She also gets the feeling that the squirrel seems to be watching her particularly closely, although that part could just be her imagination...

(We're still off initiative order for now)

"...hmmm." Syli frowns at the squirrel, putting her hand out to signal the others to stop. It was only belatedly occurring to her that there was one possibility she had overlooked, and she decided to play a hunch. "Bq yvhbomsk ztctd. Tx ytqhtsh ms ctdxyzhbg?"

Gwen looks at Syli oddly, knowing that is not the language of the abominations, but still an odd enough language it ought to be.

The squirrel cocks its head and chirps again, before leaping into the branches of a nearby tree and skittishly creeping its nervous way towards Syli. It seems quite curious despite its obvious wariness. Once it is a few feet above her, it chirps again but seems unwilling to come any closer.

Syli keeps her hand out as a signal to the others to wait. "Mj mbq yvhbomsk ztctd uhxh extdklz lhxh eczlh vpmklz tjb ptfbp ltshc jbxqhx ult lby lbg lmy lmrhy extohs mszt xhfhszpc. Lh bsg lmy ehhy umyl zlh bzzbfoy ts zlh lmrhy zt fhbyh bsg zlh zxbfoy uh ptfbzhg zlhxh phg dy lhxh."

The squirrel chirrups again and hops nervously on the branch.

What are the rest of you doing (if anything) while this is happening? Any checks or anything you'd like to make?
