Gwen's probably going to kick ass while Korrik is napping.

Gwen already shows she can kick ass by killing that one snake! He can't say she can't do anything anymore! :p

If he claims she is useless even after this... She'll- probably not do anything

Anyways I suggest if Merhiv could, to try to get as many snakes as possible with fire breath. Or Magic Missile. Not sure what his other attack is but apparently it's not sleep.

Edit: them having flyby attack sucks because that makes it harder for us x.X

Well, Korrik's probably going to be feeling pretty useless himself, so won't be in much position to give her grief.

Only to a point. Now that you've seen how they attack, remember that you can always ready a melee attack to strike them when they dip into range and before they escape into the air again.

You don't get the AOO per se, but then again, combat would be awfully boring if everything did the same stuff all the time :)

That's fine, it was really just a reminder that it was available as an option (as well as all the other types of combat actions, summarised here):
https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Combat#content

I also checked out the level progression and you'll be happy to know that you only need to survive roughly 6 encounters before you get to level two then three. Things progress more slowly after that to about level ten, but at least you shouldn't be stuck for too long in these squishy bodies :)

(By the way dlover - your wild surge didn't trigger last turn, but I forgot to write it down)

Yeesh, I was saving my actual spells for the bear-man-thing at the end of this, but that's starting to look like a tactical error.

Do have a question though. Based on the snake's attacks, can I tell how fast they can move, approximately?

It looks like they can move pretty damn fast. You think you'd be hard pressed to outrun them if they decided to fly at you at full speed.

At least (I think) the poison is a secondary effect, and not subject to doubling if they manage a crit...

Wild Surge should only trigger on Level 1 and higher spells, while Ray of Frost is a cantrip anyway.

So I had a look over your character sheets before you set out into the wilds, and just wanted to remind you all of Gwen's background features. As an outlander, Gwen basically can't get lost and can forage enough food and water for 6 people (including herself) in the wilderness (as long as it's available).

So, as long as Gwen is with you, I won't be requiring survival checks to find your way through the wilds. Without her, you'll need to find your own way around :)

I'm back. And caught up. But still pretty beat. Thanks for handling Kal, Thinks. And congrats to the party on surviving the snakes. Not really sure what to do right now. I think I'm just following along. Even though tracking monsters through the wilderness should be Kal's wheelhouse, he doesn't actually have the skills to do any better than the rest of you. Does he still have advantage to spend, BTW?

((I don't remember what the advantage was for... but sure, why not!

I TOTALLY remembered! Yes, you do still have advantage.))

...okay, if anyone needs me, I'm going to be at the back of the party where I'm attacked last.

At least until these dice start behaving.

I only rolled for Darruk in case he was somehow able to offset Kal's terrible roll. He did not.

By the way, as we go through the game and settle into the characters and setting a bit more, I am very open to comments and criticism from you guys regarding the bits of the game that you particularly enjoy or dislike (e.g. quest types, enemies, npcs you do / don't like etc). It's kind of hard to get a feel for that when we're not playing at a table (short of players just straight up disappearing for no reason), so feel free to pitch in as we go and I'll do my best to take it on board and keep a bit of a balance :)

Similarly, if there are things you already know you have zero interest in just let me know.

So far my dislike of being poisoned is reinforced, but with enough monk levels I'll be able to laugh that off.

I think the TWA dice have infected the TSW dice. Not sure which of us was the carrier...

Hahaha! Criticism of the dice is a long-standing and noble tradition that I fully endorse :)

I'm not sure what's happened to coyotecode this week but it definitely seems angry at us!
