At the far end of the hallway, a needle blight steps out and strides forward, raising both hands towards Zephyr at your end of the hallway. It twitches its arms downwards, and as Zephyr shifts her shield to cover her lower extremities, it jerks its arms up and fires off a barrage of needles, a handful taking her in the face and neck for 15 damage.

The far end of the hallway has been explored a bit more, there is a room there, which was full of the blights currently attacking. That is hidden since you guys don't know what all is there since retreating.

Maji rolls his eyes at Zephyr. Of course after she snapped out of her funk she got into trouble. He holds his position, not wanting to crowd the area in case of retreat and holds to wack a blight.

More twig blights round the far end of the hallway, two moving past the needle blight, wooden arms and mouths clacking hungrily.

((I don't think so - you would have to spend your action on dodging and make it explicit beforehand. I don't think you can just hold any possible action as "readied". You can use reactions at any point in the turn order though (one per round) so if you have anything there that could help you'd probably be allowed to use it, assuming spider says it's ok.))

((Yes, held actions must be specified (I was assuming attack), and are typically used to hold an attack, casting a spell, or dash moving. I suppose any action COULD be readied, but it typically wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to give up an action to ready a disengage, dodge, help, hide, etc. You could have taken the dodge action instead of readying an action on your turn, but can't use your reaction to dodge now.))

"Damn needles, this could be a good place to funnel them through, taking them down without that one.

Holger fire bolt: 1D20+6 = [11]+6 = 17
Fire bolt damage: 1D10 = [6] = 6

Zephyr charges down the hallway killing everything in her way while sacrificing her life.... :D

Zephyr steps back into the hallway to the north, ready to protect Holger from any incoming attacks, assuming that Randy can fend for himself.

Zephyr: You push past Holger into the totally empty hallway behind him. You idly wonder where that Tess girl is, you've not seen her in a bit. ((Are you readying anything?))

The vine blights detach, push past the other blights a bit, before pressing up on the walls again.

((You don't need to ready a Dodge, you just take that action on your turn. What are you bonus actioning Holger with?))

((protection is a reaction, and you get one of those per round; attacks of opportunity and such are also reactions so there's a cost and choice involved which means it might be worth waiting to see what happens before you decide what to do.))

Randy jerks out of his momentary torpor, draws back on his bow and lets fly at the needler.

long bow: 1D20+4 = [17]+4 = 21

Long bow damage: 1D8+2 = [5]+2 = 7
