Re: The Sundered Way
Maji pops off a zombie forearm and sprints for the altar, passing Randy on Coljin's side. He gets about halfway there.
Tess inspects the skeletal remains, and though they have become dis-articulated, notices spiraling patterms around the bones that she figures made up the wrist and fingers of the skeleton's hand.

Re: The Sundered Way
Nemeia grabs the skeleton's hand and holds it above her head like a trophy. Finally, FINALLY!! This will be the key to turning the damn statues off!
"I've got it!"
She takes the skeleton's hand to the lever and tries to fit them together.

((I think you've seen a skeleton use the one next to the the left brazier, that seemed to raise an lower the stone slabs on that side, and the lever to the right of the altar, which raised and lowered the bowl.))

Seeing/hearing that Tess has a plan, Coljin will stay where he is for a bit, blocking the beam with the shield and just holding tight.

You may have seen one fiddle with the altar gem, after which the second statue activated.thinkslogically wrote:((I think I saw one turn on a statue too, no? Regardless, I'll try the brazier lever if that's what we currently think is controlling the laser-statues))

Hmmm... All right, Nem will take the skeleton bits and retreat rather than risk getting murdered then. Maybe the others can figure it out.

Coljin might well be grumpy by the time this is over. He glances over at Tess's retreating form and shrugs, keeping his shield in position for now.

Re: The Sundered Way
After declaring that she's "got it!", Tess scurries backward.
Both statues fire again, the one on the left firing into its own mouth, while the one on the right fires a shot at Coljin, which is blocked by his shield.
Maji:1;Randy:2;Coljin:3: 1D3 = [3] = 3
Zephyr whiffs at the statue.
Randy runs out of the range of the statues.
Ulmwin misses again.
Maji makes it to the altar with his foul tasting zombie arm, and flops it around on against the gem. It doesn't seem to do much.

Maji looks at Tess and then at the skelly arm and tries to motion her back to the alter, failing that he goes to get the skelly arm for himself.

The statues fire again, the one of the left again shooting to hit Holger, while the one on the right fires into Coljin's shield, which is getting mildly warm at this point.

Nemeia will head back to the others and show them the skeleton arm.
"Can any of you make any sense of this? Look at the spiral marks... I think they might interact with the levers somehow, but I don't want to risk getting close to those statues again."

((Yup, just clarifying that it's not a fully articulated hand at this point... and thus more difficult to just flop and nuzzle at a lever or gem and expect something to happen.))

Re: The Sundered Way
Holger decides he's rather safe up on the statue and imitates Zephyr as the others deal with the main gem. Rather than trying to destroy the gem, he'll target the mouth/snout that is keeping the gem in place, hoping it will crack under the different magical energies afflicting it as he casts frostbite on it.
Sorry about the delay. I'm moving in a couple of days and have been trying to get things in order for the move

Re: The Sundered Way
Coljin watches the confusion and rushing about and come to a decision.
Yelling really loud for him, "I'm retreating to the back part of the room shortly. I'll let the gem shoot two more times into my shield them I"m running to the back of the room. Let us meet there and heal and strategize!".
We are in no rush to disarm these things, so we should use magic and teamwork to get the rolls we need to figure this out, then go back in.
And we can use the dagger to do a mass healing in the safe part of the room and we can regroup then.
