Re: The Sundered Way
((Nem's got 3 HP left and already tried to figure this out extensively but the dice hate her in this place so she's mostly given up.))
LAST TRY:
Can Nem see anything (from her current distance) at/on the altar that looks like shooting it with a crossbow would help in any way at all (rolled twice in case of adv/disadv because this is a dumb idea).
Investigation: 1D20+2 = [19]+2 = 21
1D20+2 = [14]+2 = 16

There's pretty much just that large gem up there and the levers to either side. You saw that skeleton do something with the gem, just prior to the right statue activating, so it likely does something, though whether shooting at it while Randy is crouching behind it will improve the situation or not is doubtful.

Re: The Sundered Way
That is pretty much exactly what I thought the outcome would be
Nemeia will opt to not shoot Randy, and will instead message him:
"The skeleton did something with the gem before the statue activated. Try turning it or something"

Re: The Sundered Way
Coljin reaches the statue, and holding up his shield puts a barrier in place that should prevent him and Randy from being fired on by the right statue, while still giving Zephyr a shot at hitting the statue... and tucking as much behind it as possible so as not to get hit with a javelin.
Randy lays his hands on the central gem, and tries to turn or shift it in some manner, but it doesn't budge. These levers and things seemed really easy for the skeletons!
The two statues fire off gain, the right impacting on Coljin's shield, but Randy gets sniped in the back by the one on the left! ((DEX save please!))
Holger:1;Randy:2: 1D2 = [2] = 2
Statue beam damage: fire, necrotic, radiant: Randy: 1D4 = [3] = 3
1D4 = [2] = 2
1D4 = [3] = 3
Statue beam damage: fire, necrotic, radiant: Shield: 1D4 = [1] = 1
1D4 = [2] = 2
1D4 = [3] = 3
Zephyr makes another heave and chips the gem with her javelin, the glow now imparting a distinct twinkling and warbling, but again the point of her javelin doesn't really dig in and do full damage, impacting and partially skipping off.

Ulmwin sighs, at this point conceding that trying to remove the rubies intactly might be a long hope... And joins Zeph in at least trying to disable one of the gems.

Coljin sighs. He moved in to block with his shield to protect Randy and now he dashes off.
He will continue to block this round and try an arcana check since he can see it clearly to try to figure out how to disable or turn it off
Can someone please roll my arcana?

Coljin can tell that the gem is definitely magical in nature, though isn't sure how to activate or de-activate it.

Re: The Sundered Way
Nem gets an idea and heads (very carefully) towards whichever statue is most blocked (probably the one by Coljin. She checks the dead skeleton's hands for switch-activating tools/a ring/whatever, but is very much on alert for those statue-lazers. She doesn't have the health to get zapped again.

Re: The Sundered Way
Could Coljin be able to bash the gem with his mace, and then still keep the shield up as blocking after the attack? Or does one negate the other?
(he is ready to just give up on stopping the gems for now and have everyone convene on the far side of the room and mass heal everyone with the rain dagger)
"We could just leave them be and stay on the other side of the large room?"" he states/questions at the same time.
"I've just decided now that I'm this close to one of them, that I don't want it to explode when they are destroyed and I"m right here."

Re: The Sundered Way
There is one skeleton behind a right hand brazier that Tess is able to get to while still being outside what she estimates is the range of the statues, though she keeps the brazier between her and Coljin's statue, just for good measure. ((Let's have a good old Investigation check...))
((Yeah, Coljin could take a swing with his mace... I'd say you could hold your shield in place and either take a 'blind swing' for the gem and roll an attack at disadvantage, or sort of feel about for it and give it a rap. I'd say the latter would not be at disadvantage, but would negate your STR modifier to damage if you hit.))

The only skeleton one is the one Tess is looking at. There are a few zombie ones.

Re: The Sundered Way
Okay, Maji will get a zombie hand, run up to the center gem. He then puts the hand on the gem and tries to turn the gem with it.
