The dagger clanks against the stone floor. Nothing.
You surmise it is possible that you'd have to be attuned to the dagger in order for whatever its effects might be to operate for you.

*Not understanding what this "attuned" stuff is..*
While resting, Zephyr takes out the javelin and looks at it intently, hefting it in her hand in effort to determine how worthy it would be in combat.

Re: The Sundered Way
Zephyr: You spend your short rest studying the javelin, hefting it, and miming some practice throws, in what the limited space allows. The balance is good, at least as good as any other javelin.
*You are now attuned to the javelin*
You feel a sense of eagerness to give it a go.
((Attuning is 5e's way of avoiding the magic item in every body slot, as well as passing items back and forth to confer benefits to everyone of past versions. Some magic items won't require attunement, and can be used by anyone, but others require attuning, which is accomplished by spending a short rest studying or practicing with the item, after which it is attuned and you can gain benefits (or possibly detriments) from its properties, before attunement it operates like a mundane item. You are only able to attune to 3 items at a time, attuning to a 4th will break attunement to one of the others.))

Re: The Sundered Way
Nemeia is somewhat disappointed that nothing cool happened but is also relieved that Holger didn't turn into a plan again or cause some other purple catastrophe to explode out of the floor.
All in all, this is probably one of the better possible outcomes...
"Well, shall we move on and see what's downstairs or should we rest for the night? I'm sure there will be more of these blight creatures waiting for us down there, but how many is anyone's guess."

Nah, I figured it's probably too early to actually sleep, but we could chill out for a bit, collect the remaining crystals from the bank (and ID them), then tackle the final floor when we've had a long rest and recovered our spells and stuff. Or we could sneak downstairs and see what we can scout out and maybe hit the bad guy before it gets dark and they recover their forces. Might not be a bad idea to clear out some of the basement while we're in reasonable health then run away before we find the source of all this...))

Rudolph would have patrolled the whole floor as he didn't need to rest while everyone else played with items.
From what I can tell then as long as we keep the stairs covered we have this floor to ourselves.

"Well we've got these now too, which I assume are both healing potions... But I agree with scouting while we can. If there is some master creature down below, it would not hurt to thin out some more of it's minions. I'll go. Holger, will you come too?"

He tried to test it out by putting it on his hand and pulling the loop apart and letting it go to auto adjust.

Yeah, you put it on your arm, and when you wiggled a bit, it shifted, but taking a different shape will be the real test.Arch Lich Burns wrote:He tried to test it out by putting it on his hand and pulling the loop apart and letting it go to auto adjust.

"I was actually thinking we should all go, but not everyone should be in the scouting party. Holger and I managed well enough yesterday, and if Maji can make himself small he could be very helpful. ...unless you can only do bears, love? I don't know much about turning into animals!", she says with a grin.
