Altered the list to show the order of how I would go about it. Holger would be above the statue as he was before when testing out the various materials. Someone should activate the statue while testing the materials and deactivate it when done.
If the decision is to kill zombies first, Holger will defer to that and help in the effort, readying a fire bolt.
- Detect magic on the statue (requires a bit of time for Ulmwin to cast the ritual)
- block the eyes with illusions
- block the eyes with cloth
- block the eyes with dye or makeup
- block the eyes with metal (Randy's extra scale mail perhaps)
- chisel the fangs with a dagger (test broken statue first)
- file the fangs (test broken statue first)
- smash the fangs only (test broken statue first)
- eldritch blast the other statues fang/upper mouth
- smash the gem with a mace
Holger fire bolt:
1D20+6 = [6]+6 = 12
Fire bolt damage:
1D10 = [5] = 5
I like how Zephyr/Badge almost feels like bragging about mastering a few spells when everyone in the group knows magic

Well, why don't we check for zombies while Ulmwin casts his ritual then timeskip 10 minutes to when he's done. We can check out the room with him then see what the platform does.

Randy closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, releases it slowly. His face assumes a resigned expression. "Fine."
He take position with his bow nocked directly across from the southern most alcove door.

With a reluctant consensus reached, the alcoves are opened. Those of you with darkvision see slumped forms on the floor. None of them move.

Zephyr starts blasting firebolts into the holes, regardless of the inactivity.
(Zephyr is very very humble about her mastery of magic.

She misses a lot, but when she does hit, they don't respond.

Maji watches the collapsed bodies in the alcoves and growls softly. He'll thornwhip one to go into the light to see what is going on.

Assuming the others explain what's happening, Nem will keep the alcoves open.

Yes, Coljin will tell her that they just appear to be dead bodies, no movement, no undead-ish-ness.

Maji yanks one out. It seems rotting and gross. Coljin or someone can give me some sort of check on it.

Randy looks warily at the bodies. "Maybe we interrupted their reanimation by closing the doors on them?"

"Maybe... Could it be the bowl..? The corpses in there was fueling their reanimation, something along the lines..?" Ulmwin posits as an another possible theory. It was the only thing he could think off that really "changed"...

Maji isn't able to make out much from halfling body he pulls from the alcove, but Coljin has a closer look. Zombies are in somewhat of a perpetual state of falling apart and regenerating, and as you inspect the marks left by Maji's whip, he notices the flesh knitting back together. The decaying body shows all signs of being a zombie, but it doesn't seem alert to its surroundings, or active in any way.

(If Coljin tells the group) Zephyr will take the time to stand nearish the bodies and obliterate each one.

Coljin will indeed inform all that they are zombies, just inactive for some reason, and he thinks Ulmwin's theory may be correct. He will assist with decapitating and smashing heads while they are easy to get rid of.

Randy will help, using short swords and planar warrior to get them down quick.

"Or, it might just be a matter of... Having lost instructions? But then what was giving the instructions in the first place?" Ulmwin remarks, seeing the zombies still being "zombies", but suspiciously inert.
"I'd expect to find a necromancer, or a sentient undead of some kind, but we didn't find anything... Unless it were the skeletons?"
"In each case, seems this should be easy..."

"Yes, but the skeletons were trying to raise this fountain, however brief their efforts, why go through that trouble if they were the ones in power."

"Same reason they'd have wanted to open the alcoves over that side, really. Get in more minions to try and take care of us. I'm still placing my bets on there being some kind of super minion down there..."

Hearing the zombies are all zombies, he will help destroy thier bodies so that they cannot attack them.
(Any reason why Maji can't roll?)
