Re: The Sundered Way
(( I figured as much. Since Randy actually has a sense of responsibility and he got picked to be more or less in charge, it makes him seem bossy and cranky sometimes. However, he'd be willing to take risks to get someone out of trouble, provided it had a reasonable chance of success. He just prefers to minimize it where he can. And he probably would take it personally if something terminal happened to someone he felt responsible for.))

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy: You push past the stack of tiefling and gnome, and stopping short of the vines, can just see the vine blight that is embracing Tess's limp form and pulling her backward.
(Tess, the Randerwaith the Death Watcher has arrived, make a death saving throw.)
Putting your left shoulder to the wall, you pull up your bow and loose an arrow that manages to not clip the corner of the entry into the room, and more importantly, doesn't hit Tess, managing to find its mark in the flesh of the vineblight.
((Turns out the +4 almost mattered... at 3/4 cover, the vine blight's AC was 17,,, a hit either way, but had you been lower, there is a chance it might have hit Tess.))
(Randy, you have 10 ft of movement left, do you want to use it to move 5 ft into the vines? They are rough terrain.)

Randy: As you step forward onto the uneven bed of vines, you see the second vine blight as well as the one dragging Tess.
Zephyr and Ulmwin: As the pair of you move forward, the second blight in the corner comes into view, and Ulmwin fires off a bolt that slams into it.
Coljin
Rudolph

Now that he knows Holger is fine, and that door is locked, Coljin will run to catch up with the others and see what trouble they have gotten into. He is still carrying his bow.
He will run as far as he can. If he has movement, he will squeeze past the logjam at the end of the hall and go into the room, moving straight into the room if able.

((AFAIK, not for general use. There are some feats that work like that under the fighter's defender style, and maybe some spells that could be used to defend an ally, but they're specific skills and you'd probably know if you had them.))

Re: The Sundered Way
((Two things sort of come to mind, Protection Fighters (like Zeph), can get their shield in the way, which gives disadvantage to the attack, and there are fighter maneuvers that goad the enemy into attacking you. If you're talking like secret service jumping in front of a bullet, I suppose if you held a Dash Action, you could use that to move in the way and give half cover...?
Why don't we keep it for now, but give you disadvantage on your next attack that you have light to see by.
That brings us back around to Maji.))

Re: The Sundered Way
Okay sooo while crawling on the walls to avoid the entangled area can I get to the blight that is dragging tess and bite the heck out of it?
Edit:
Bite attack, posion dc 11: 1D20+4 = [6]+4 = 10
1D4+2 = [4]+2 = 6
3D6 = [6, 5, 3] = 14
...does it grappling someone provide me with advantage?

Maji: You manage to scurry up to the vine blight, and nip at it ineffectively.
((Attacks against the grapplee do, but don't think they do against the grappler.))
Holger's up.

Holger: You join the end of the queue, sending your torch bobbing over the heads of your party members ahead of you.
Within the room, the blight not dragging Tess moves a bit closer to the exit before raising its arms and calling forth a mass of tangling vines and roots. Zephyr manages to pull free, but Ulmwin sways on his perch as she does so.
(Can I have an Athletics or Acrobatics from Ulmwin please?)
(Maji, I'll also need a Strength Saving Throw from your weak little centipede body...)

Re: The Sundered Way
A myriad of vines pin Maji to the ground as the vine blight dragging Tess continues out of the room.
((Maji, you get an opportunity attack, but with disadvantage due to being restrained.))
The gnome/tiefling stack wobbles a bit, but stays upright.
Ulmwin
Randerwaith
Zephyr
Rudolph

Re: The Sundered Way
When Randy's turn comes up, he will push straight forward as far as he can get and attempt to engage the blight pulling Tess with his bow.
long bow attack (disadvantage): 2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [6, 15]+4 = 10 (Kinda figured that would happen.)

Re: The Sundered Way
Ulmwin feels great that the dice actually seems to like him. It's kind of embarrassing it requires him to piggyback a tiefling for it, but thems the breaks- He fires another shot at the vineblight trying to drag off Tess.
crossbow attack: 1D20+4 = [15]+4 = 19
1D8+2 = [6]+2 = 8

Re: The Sundered Way
Ulmwin: You punch a bolt past Tess into the vine blight, but it's still standing.
Randerwaith: Your shot goes wide, missing both blight and Tess to scatter across stone.
Two twig blights scamper past the vine blight dragging Tess, their clawed wooden arms clacking in anticipation.
Zephyr reaches up and deposits Ulmwin on the vine covered ground. "Ride's over!", she says with a grin as she charges the unoccupied vine blight, but as she swings down, a mass of viney arm intercepts her swing, knocking her arm away before the blade can find vegetation.
Coljin and Rudy, you're up. Vine covered area is difficult terrain, so uses 10ft of your movement to move a 5 ft square.
