Well, not with a bear charging down the hallway.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
We waited for a turn and they were much closer at that point. They were never going get us here, they have blindsight andcould see our conga line of death.

It is possible that Spider decided they should act a bit smarter on day two (or possibly the overmind is taking a more active interest ).

Almost as if running headlong into the party has been met with only destruction of the blights...

Well, the bodies have vanished overnight, so even if you'd killed everything and hid the bodies, that many blights going missing would have likely been noticed.

Ugh. This just turned into a house clearing operation, with the blights holed up and defending.

On the bright side Mani gets to be a larger bear in the larger room once this bear is done.

So we just need to punch through their lines and get them from the back it's almost like we need to adapt our strategies to theirsLurks_In_Shadows wrote:Ugh. This just turned into a house clearing operation, with the blights holed up and defending.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
That's the problem. Before there was a front line to get behind. Now it's going to be a series of defended strong points. I don't suppose you've played Call of Duty? It'd be like the fighting in Stalingrad. Unfortunately, we're going to probably going to have to tank our way into some of those points, given the layout of this place. We're going to get hurt some. Good thing we've got some additional healing capabilities. We're going to need them, higher HP or not. Rudy's and Zephyr's time to shine has come. Pity we don't have any grenades.

We might wind up having to experiment with those crystals.

Let's see what happens first. we already know some of the group can one-shot a needle blight so it's probably not so bad as all that.

Hmm, yeah, I think I actually talked about what I wanted to spellwise, but never actually finished that... Oops.
Anyways, I'll stick with what I originally was planning- I've picked up dissonant whispers as my new spell so I have a good single-target option, and have also chosen to replace disguise self with detect magic. Still utility, but more fitting one for the situation we are currently in. You guys will just need to give Ulmwin twenty minutes break every so often so he can refresh his detect magic and comprehend languages.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Hmmm... I was thinking that everything got lumped into blindsight, but there definitely are some things that have tremorsense still in 5e. I'd essentially been treating the blights as if they had tremorsense...
So... sure, you can sense things as a centipede without being in contact with the ground... though some vague, undescribed mechanism...

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Probably. A bear goes around the around the corner, there's a lot of racket, and then a giant centipede comes ripping around the corner and attempts to climb up the leg of the first person it runs into. Beside the obvious "ick" factor of having a giant multilegger using you as a jungle gym, all this is going on in a combat situation when everyone is a little edgy anyway. Probably just as well Holger hadn't made it up front yet. He might have flamed your buggy rear!

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Probably fortunate that Tess took an attack at the blight rather than holding an action to attack a 'hostile' that comes around the corner...

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Also the fact she's holding a bow so there won't be any attack of opportunities against the grapple (If that's still a thing).
And Maji is crawling up on Tess so he might very well flame him anyways, using tide of chaos to make sure I don't hit Tess. Fortunately I have to use my action on dashing in order to get up there so you have 1 turn to before that happens
The blights and centipede are using echolocation to "see"
Also knowledge nature as I get past the centipede: 1D20+2 = [19]+2 = 21
Might not come to me shooting you, yet

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
I'm getting impressed at how effective Maj's venom is against blights. We might have to see if we can milk him for venom before he next transforms. We might be able to envenom our blades and arrows. We'd just have to be careful handling things afterwards. Could be bad if it absorbs through skin.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
So one quick question: usually when you do death rolls there's the opportunity to regain 1hp on a natural 20. In Nem's current case (which I assume is down to non-lethal damage), will she have the opportunity to wake up spontaneously? I mean it's both unlikely and unlikely to help, but I'm just curious. I've not thought of applying non-lethal damage to PCs, but it's an interesting idea.

Obviously, we need to conserve healing, so if she is non-fatally injured...
