Foray Carnage Turn 48

Post by Nerre » Thu Jun 09, 2016 1:28 pm

FORAY CARNAGE
Turn 48:

Events:
Once the aftermath of the bear fight was done, the group left to circle around the human village with some distance. The goblins had chosen a path that led them through the forest terrain covering the flanks of the mountains on the east side of the river. After several hours of walking and climbing, they forest ended. The edge of the clearing was far to straight to be natural, so they carefully sneaked near. Once they had approached the bushes below the last trees, the first heared, then saw, a little creek running between the forest and a field. Only a few trees where standing on the other side of the creek. The creek purled over a bed of rocks and sand, with a bank dead branches and twigs here and then, which got trapped in a calm spot in the course or between some rocks.
The goblins where sure they could easily cross it by stepping from rock to rock, maybe they even were able to jump over it.
The field itself was covered with large grass, but it didn't look natural. Rather like the humans did grow only one kind of plant there. Strange. Why didn't they hunt like the goblins did? The forest contained a lot of food, and so did the river on the other side of the village. The grass was tall and straight. They also spotted two people build out of sticks on the field, which were wearing old clothes. Far behind the field, the saw a shed, and a larger group of buildings even further behind. Smoke was rising from one of them.

Info:
- You found a human field, but as your kind doesn't know agriculture, you don't really know what it is.

Is the long field of grass high enough that if we crawl, we are hidden?

Foray Carnage Turn 49

Post by Nerre » Mon Jun 20, 2016 3:02 pm

FORAY CARNAGE
Turn 49:

Events:
As you approach the two scarecrows, you notice they have old and ragged human clothes put on on wooden sticks. To one of the sticks, representing an arm, each of them has a dungfork tied to. You see no shoes, but two straw hats.
It seems as so far nobody did spot you. You can see the shed close by, but the group of buildings where the smoke arises is still a few minutes of sneaking away. So far you can see a small barn, two wooden and one stone house.

How dry is the stuff that's growing? Should we burn the wooden buildings? On second thought not yet, although we should plan to do it eventually. It could make a good distraction & it would be a shame to waste it before we need it. Misses starts talking to himself Where do we find something to start the fire? Feathers for tinder, sticks to burn as torches? What to light it?

@Dlover:
The forks have increased reach and +1 atk against charges, mounted attacks and beings 2 size categories larger (not humans, they are only 1 larger). The also can be used defensively. Then they grant +1 def and +1 atk, but only if something attacks you. If used in a normal melee fight against melee reach weapons, they have -1 atk. During strong charges they might break, but not without first dealing damage to the attacker.

@ Deadlock:
The grass is still growing, not dry yet. But you can already see the crop corns at the tops of the grass plants.

@ALL (important)
Hi everybody. I did recalculate the math of your attributes, and it seems I messed up the numbes somewhere with all the temp bonuses. Kills, Blindingly and Splinters seem to be correctly, but Misses and Defiles somehow ended up with stats being too high for the sum of the starting attributes, point buy, items and mark bonuses.

I will correct this in the next update. If any of you want to retroactively shift some points from the point buy system based on this, you can do so with the last 2 point buy xp. This means you can exhance according to this ratios:
2 hp = 1 def = 1 atk = 1 ratk = 1 matk.

Misses now has:
7 hp
5 def
2 atk
10 ratk

Defiles now has:
10 hp
5 def
8 atk
2 ratk

Foray Carnage Turn 50

Post by Nerre » Tue Jun 28, 2016 3:36 pm

FORAY CARNAGE
Turn 50:

Events:
The sneaky approach through the fields is interrupted by Kills, who stops to take a moment to examine the forks for potential weapons. Then he takes one down from the fake stick humans. Defiles joins him, having his back but also taking a look at the fake humans. The clothes look old and used and like they have been exposed to weather and sun for a while. Beside the clothes and the forks there is nothing on the sticks.

Misses starts talking to himself, while he waits on the others.
"How dry is the stuff that's growing? Should we burn the wooden buildings? On second thought not yet, although we should plan to do it eventually. It could make a good distraction & it would be a shame to waste it before we need it. Where do we find something to start the fire? Feathers for tinder, sticks to burn as torches? What to light it?"

Splinters lets Kills take whatever time he wants examining the fake humans, then he points towards the shed.
The others agree and slowly and quietly the group approaches the shed. The door is open, and when some of you dare a quick look inside, they spot a few rusty tools, an almost empty rack and a crude wooden work bench. The inside is dusty and a bit dirty, which allows you to notice that several objects have been taken away.

The ones outside notice voices from the house close by, which are answered imediately by people inside the field you did not spot yet. Right after that you hear them walking towards the shed, talking to each other. You can distinguish at least three voices.

Shouldn't that be 6 DEF? 1 innate starting DEF + 3 from his mark + 1 from leather armor + 0.5 bracers + 0.5 hood?

Also, how dark is it in the shed?

Hi Spider.

Yes, 6 is correct, not sure where I missed 1 DEF. Spend almost an hour in checking this up.

Inside the shed there is daylight. As the shed is not very large, there are no really dark corners. You could try to hide behind the door, under the work bench, on the roof, behind it,... though.

I suggest we duck back into the crops to avoid notice and attack them by surprise.
My game:
Hunters of Letrua; Character list
Also Player / Monster stats, skill lists.

My characters:
Tugs Tails, the goblin that was sort of a trapper and wears a bear's tail at his neck, for some reason - Lair of the Mountain King (Run by Thinks)
Alex Sparo, A city boy, poor of sight, who has learned to manipulate people and make the most of what he, and others, have - Trinity Isles (Run by Mort)
Mehriv Turajin, a Noble Dragonborn Sorcerer sent from his clan because he wasn't dragony enough. - The Wandering Archipelago (Run by Thinks)
