darkness and daggers, Fallen eneamy!

Post by LAYF » Tue Dec 23, 2014 4:02 am

Okay.. New game attempt:

A warm summer evening, some ten miles south of Grainwell village...

Image

"Okay, I'll look"
Image

"It is okay, he's not looking, come one up!"
Image

"See? That is where I told you about..."
"OH DAMN!!!! Thats a big Orc!"
"... SHHHhhh!!! What did you expect when i said there was an orc?
now!!!... The Duke of Grainwell send the guards into that cave with the book they took from that mage!
But they did not come out again, and now there is an Orc guarding the entrance!
I think this is our chance to finally be recognized by the adventures guild! if we return with the book or proof it has been destroyed they will surely let us join! what do you guys say?"

"Or! we could use the book to get a reward from the duke! I don't think he wants that thing around!!!"

Okay... simple small dungeon, just to see if I'm up to it and if players are too!
rules are much simplified this time. look in the spoiler below.
if you wish to play, post a character. HERE http://www.goblinsforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1316

Getting ready

Image

First things first.
You'll all have to choose a model
Dlover may chose between the two top
Patdragon between the two in the middle
and Wears between the two in the bottom

You must also chose a color for text (not green) and if you wish your closes.

Second;
Patdragonmust choose between:
a [Club: 1-5 DMG] or a [Quaterstaff:2-4 DMG]
and
A [Shield: 2(8)DEF] or [Bracers: 1(5) DEF]

Dlover must choose between:
a [Dagger: 2-3DMG] or a [Spear: 2 DMG, (1-2DMG) Ranged]

Wears must choose between:
[Known Spell, Plant Snare: Full round action, binds your enemy in place till he can get free (4 endurance), no cost; 8 endurance for the cost of 1 power] or [Known Spell, Frost bolt: attack action, deals 2-3 frost damage, no cost; slows target at the cost of 1 Power]
and
[Known Spell, Frost touch: attack action, freezes objects making them brittle, no cost; deals 1-2 frost damage to anyone who touches the object at the cost of 1 Power] or [Known Spell, Fire aura: Full round action, everyone touching you this round takes 1-2 fire damage, no cost; last till end of battle for the cost of 1 power]
and
[minor Healing potion: instantly regenerates up to 10 endurance and 2 health] or [potion of haste: allows you to perform an extra full round action regardless of any other actions this round (does not count as an action to drink)]

Image

Lastly, you must chose on a tactic on how to approach the Orc guard (please note, that while not "evil" by blood, most orcs see humans as natural enemies simply due to cultural differences)
1 Front route, bushes to hide behind, but in field of vision.
2 Over the cave, a bit tricky but good chance of hiding.
3 along the cave wall, easy, but still risk of being heard by anyone inside.

top left pictures.
club and shield ( can't see why bracers are better?)
I'd would say option 1 for myself but 3 as a group.

Big menacing fighter being an obvious distraction in the bushes, and not approaching.

Can we approach from different directions or do we all arrive at the same option. If separate I'm thinking the more highly guided option could cave roof it whilst mage and me approach from other directions.

Oh sorry, you are the middel pictures...
Bracers allows you to use two handed weapons
You may come at it as you wish... you may even try and negotiate, together or one by one, all up to you....

I'll take column B. (The brown robes on the right.) A hat would be nice, of course, but I don't want to make extra work for you.

Text color blue.

Plant Snare, Frost Touch, and healing potion.

I would either sneak along the wall (and see if I can hear anything useful) or try to negotiate. I could cast Plant Snare on him (what's the range on that?) and then try to talk. It won't hurt him, but he won't be able to attack me/us. Of course, he'll likely shout for help, but then he's likely to do that anyway...

Oh, and I'd like to pick up some loose rocks if I can. Bigger than pebbles, but smaller than my hand.

Leon will have the second design and use a spear. He'll be coming at this over the cave.

There's no centre, Pat. Unless the black line separating the options is also an option.

Strategy, then? I'll sneak along the cave wall, listening and trying to move silently. I'll cast Plant Snare and try to talk to him. Dlover can hit him from above if that doesn't go well. Does that sound good? If so, what will you do, Patdragon?

Stick with my original idea of being a distraction from direction one, basically being a presence so the orc is distracted on my rather than other approaching from behind.
