Re: God School: Revival??
Cool stuff, and that's ok but this lesson set should get you used to using GIMP which has a lot better tools for drawing in it (that will make your life MUCH easier if you stick with it)

Re: God School: Revival??
hahaha! Glad you're looking forward to it
One of the reason I'm delaying a bit though (aside from having loads of work to do on the lessons) is because I'm going to sea again in April. It's only for a couple of weeks, but I'll not be back until the 29th and during that time I'll have very limited access to the web. Now, I'd be happy for pass the completed lessons on to someone else to oversee them while I'm away if there's a really strong desire to get going, but I'd quite like to participate in all the discussions and stuff too so I'd personally prefer to hold off until I'm back...

Re: God School: Revival??
I think the lessons will eventually go into the Resources thread, and an optional thread will start in the games subsection, where you can join and do lessons as you wish. So there won't really be a time pressure on anyone who wants to play, it's more on the side of the ones who are holding a lesson.

Yup, pretty much. Saying that, it's going to be a lot more fun if as many people as possible take part while we run it cos you'll be able to bounce a load of ideas off each other which was the cool thing about it all last time around

Re: God School: Revival??
I think we've got writers for most of them now, but the majority of the first ones need updating (by me), which is why it's taking so long (sorry) ...
I have a plan in place though so it's just a case of getting a few hours here and there to write it up. I'll keep you posted on how it all goes.

Re: God School: Revival??
Woot! Ok, it's update time!
I've got lessons one, two and four into a finalised state and a story plan for the rest of the assignments! Hoping to make a decent dent in the last lessons while I'm at sea (in between trawling and writing a PhD!) so I'll keep you posted, but hopefully we're not a million miles away from a start date. Still be a few weeks, but we're definitely getting there!

Re: God School: Revival??
It will be done in GIMP, no? I could easily look up how it works in Photoshop. It probably even has a neat technique for it or something.

Re: God School: Revival??
Yeah, you've got the animation toolbox in Photoshop which is all right for animating stuff (funnily enough), but we need to do all this in Gimp.
On the plus side, Google has a LOT of info on how to make them

Re: God School: Revival??
Good evening all!
I've had quite a productive day on this stuff today and I think I'm done with the lessons I was meant to be writing. I still need to write up the assignment parts, but the bulk of the work is done so they shouldn't take too long to rattle through.
So, long story short, I think we're almost ready to start! If I was to open sign-ups in about a week or so, would that suit everyone else who's running lessons? It's still a decent way into the future but it will probably swing round pretty quick once we get going.
I'm planning on running one lesson per week to give everyone lots of time to complete the assignments etc. so that should give you an idea of the timescale we're talking about. Any issues just give me a shout

Re: God School: Revival??
I'd be fine with that. I still haven't had the chance or time to look at what I promised I'd prepare, but it'd probably be at least a month or two before we arrive at that point, at which point I should have vacation and plenty of time to work on it.
Also, due to me having to do so for school, I discovered photoshop actually has some really good functionalities considering the creations of gifs! So I'd probably do a quick addendum on that, besides gimp.

Yeah, I like Photoshop a lot more than GIMP but it has the disadvantage of not being free.... An addendum would be great though - the more options the better.
