Well, I said a couple of times that everybody has at least one. If that wasn't enough, the next best step is a related concept.
My game:
Hunters of Letrua; Character list
Also Player / Monster stats, skill lists.

My characters:
Tugs Tails, the goblin that was sort of a trapper and wears a bear's tail at his neck, for some reason - Lair of the Mountain King (Run by Thinks)
Alex Sparo, A city boy, poor of sight, who has learned to manipulate people and make the most of what he, and others, have - Trinity Isles (Run by Mort)
Mehriv Turajin, a Noble Dragonborn Sorcerer sent from his clan because he wasn't dragony enough. - The Wandering Archipelago (Run by Thinks)

You take the fight, Gathers. I'm technically still out with the Aerans.

For the one afternoon and night. There's a day between, which is the cause for six training sessions.

So... those 6 training sessions are in addition to what already happened, right? Like with Alice telling Loki about first aid and such.

Also, does higher dexterity aid with evasion? Or is that more manual dexterity than (body) agility?

Yep. I'm considering giving Korga and Olly an extra session, since they hadn't really done much with the afternoon compared to the others, but at the same time, they said the idea was to stay out through the night. I'll take input on that before deciding for sure.

Dexterity in this case is about handling your weapons more smoothly and landing more attacks. If you're looking to be more agile you'll want to train evasion. Actually, maybe I should have labelled evasion as agility instead.

I'm a little confused how much time has actually passed today... I thought we didn't get to the bar until early evening with the fight etc. taking up the rest of the day?

Regardless, Olly is "resting" for the day after the fight. If arm-wrestling with guards counts as strength training, he'll do that

Synch, can't we both take the fight together? Maybe wrestler style, one of us waiting at the sidelines and tag each other during? 8)

Also, could we maybe get a summary of any SP or CP or how they are called that our characters already have, please?

Even if you can't think of an enchantment for your fighting skills, I can help out with other things. And I can edit the enchantments later. So go ahead and ask away!

Can you copy what Alice has in her weapon? A rune to make it super lightweight, unless gripped in a certain way, and when position of a finger gets changed, then it becomes much more heavy to really pack a punch?
And//or can you make something to help someone heal faster? Although I think that might be more Tor's speciality.

Oh, don't worry, this day has been a mess. It was early afternoon when you got to the bar, took a little while for the negotiation, and most people got back around mid afternoon. I said it would be two days to prepare everything, but to be honest I started thinking I wouldn't be able to make the day between interesting for all of you, so we're moving past it as a training day, with nothing much going on, and on to the second day, when everything's ready for you to start the job.

Check Obsidian Portal's character sheets. Link's in my signature or the first post in this thread. I've been putting the skills I've thought of and that have been developed there. So far nobody has developed any specialised combat skills, though.

Oh, and I realised Loki was meant to have a sparring match with Mac on the day we're skipping, right? We can still do that, and it will count as combat training.

wow, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. :D

And I thought the sparring fight got cancelled, because Mac was the one gladiator who was so badly off that they couldn't fight, hence his spot in the upcoming fight was offered.
If that is not the case: sure, let's have that spar! Do you want to play it out, or just roll dice and post a summary?

@ burns: I'd be happy if you could make me some healing item. Just be sure to explain me/Loki how it works.

Nah, it wasn't Mac. When Risu and Loki asked Tor about work he brought up an injured fighter in the medical bay.

And since this was meant to be a chance to get to know Mac, let's play it out. Would you mind doing that through PM, so it doesn't mess with the timeline?

Here you go gathers. If this is not sufficent, please tell me so that I can edit it. It works by putting the needle in the green zone, and should help your natural healing and immune system.

Re: Hunters of Letrua OOC

I had to ask the same question at first. Then I found Burns had edited it into the original post. It's like a glass pocketwatch, but you move the hand yourself. Fragile, perhaps, but glass is the most available resource Julius has decent access to which is receptive to enchantment, unless he's going to go down to the forge and ask for iron, which is considerably more valuable than sand.

I'd like to suggest everybody check their skills on OP. I've updated them with the training sessions and the effects of skills, in the current state.
I don't recall how Spider handled SP increasing over levels, but I've started it at 3 to get to level 1, same as Spider did it, and it doubles for each level, resetting the Sp to 0 at the same time, so each successive level takes twice the effort. The only difference is Enchantment, which goes 3, 6, 20, and doubles from there, to simulate the way people can start twisting magic with relative ease, but becoming skilled is an extremely difficult task. Also, it means gaining 1SP with every successful enchantment won't skyrocket you through the early levels.

Oh, and I like that some people were saying they'd train in skills "if they were available." Sure, you couldn't get something like how to bake cakes, but if they're reasonable, like survival, I'll make the skills for you. Sure, they don't have set stats, but their value varies depending on the task anyway.

I'm going to wait on confirmation that everyone is satisfied I got their skills right and ready to proceed with their respective events. That's what I'm going to say, but in fact I'm frantic with a new load of school work and shouldn't even consider updating for a day or two.

Oh, and the shoulder pads can be prepared for Risu by the next day, with no cost of a training session, since it would only personally take her a few minutes to locate a tailor/armorer and request them.

Short answer? Probably.

Long answer? You can engage in training any time you feel like it and have time free. Having a skilled trainer guide you improves the SP gain, but isn't necessary so long as you have access to some way to train. The times like this where you have actual sessions to spend will happen when there's an in-game day that doesn't have much happen, leaving your characters with ample free time. In cases where only a portion of the day has been consumed, but there's nothing left to do, I'll give you a number of sessions depending on how long the day has left. Maybe one session with no mentor after the traveling group makes camp and one with mentors for the two still in the arena after their fights are done.

Oh, and I'm thinking players can act as mentors too. Maybe minimum two levels above the trainee to qualify? So if any of the mapping team have appropriately high ranking skills they can give lessons with the bonus SP.

Do we only improve skills by training, or can we improve just by doing the tasks as well (like actually fighting / climbing / hunting / camping etc)?

General activities do improve skills. For example, up to this point, each fight has netted 1SP for combat, and in Julius's case each successful enchantment got 1SP for that. I'll start varying the SP reward depending on the difficulty of the fight.

Dlover, I'm not sure how to plan to run this fight, but I feel a little.... OP? Having two allies and the ability to get out of range seems a little unfair to the repkull.

My plan for this fight is not to completely avoid melee, I'm merely doing this to give them one a last chance to consider surrender then I'll get Aeric to drop me. I'd feel bad sitting up in the air and using ranged attacks. I plan to use Aeric to negotiate Risu quickly around the battleground, eg lifting Risu and dropping her onto the backs of /behind opponents, or leaping onto Aeric's back as a way of dismounting from opponents. Essentially, trying to be as maneuverable as possible to avoid direct hits, because she's never going to wear much armor or have any large/ high damage weaponry. Even if Aeric cannot lift Risu very high by the handles, I figure he can at least lift her off the ground to scoot her around faster than she can run.

Sorta like this, but less terrifying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE0Q904gtMI

Well, I'm sure you have a plan. I just don't want to put you in a position of making Risu unreasonably advantageous just to accommodate my strategies, if that makes sense.

(Ironically, both my characters in the games I play with you are Riders now :P)

Out of range? You have a lot of confidence in your aim, if you think you can attack from out of range in this battle. (You didn't think I'd let ranged weapons be a thing and not have enemies to match, did you? :P Of course, the closest anybody has faced so far is Flagelarum, and they only have a sort of pseudo-range.)

And I'm not sure why you think Aeric would have more trouble lifting Risu than carrying her on his back. Birds are made to carry things in their talons, not on their backs, so when she's on his back she actually impedes his wings slightly, being that the two are roughly the same size, while so long as she doesn't flail around in his talons it would only mean more weight for him to carry, and aerans can carry a lot of weight. Even small ones like Aeric and Aerin could almost lift a big person like Loki or Olly, despite the humans being about twice as tall as the birds. It may be a little uncomfortable for Risu to have the straps pull up under her arms, but she'll certainly be lifted.
