I happened upon this and found myself nodding in that knowing way. It is safe. But some of the other strips within this comic archive have strong nsfw language.

Speaking about the strip on the front page, I never understood why people are so aggravated about SW prequels.

for those of you who don't want to visit the website to see it, I've taken the liberties of posting it as a picture.

As for your question GC:

Episodes 4, 5, 6 (the 1st trilogy, as released), was epic...ball busting epicness...

then they came out with 1, 2, 3....which...were just horrible..i mean, they weren't horrible movies..

4-6, were action packed
1-3 was....more...not that...

The biggest for me, was that 1-3 tried to change the story my making a Obi Won reference that wasn't supported in 4-6.

Oh...and Jar-Jar was annoying..and should never have been in the movies...

basically...in the minds of several SW fans, 1-3 should have complimented 4-6 in every way possible, and it should not have introduced new elements that were not used in 4-6. (ex: 1-3 we learn that R2-D2 can fly, but in 4-6 he comes across situation after situation where, if he could have flown, the movies would have happened differently)....why make a change like that, why not just leave 4-6 alone and work with it...

Some things can be explained by age in canon (R2 is 30-ish years older in the OT and in far more disrepair due to how the galaxy has fallen) or you could explain it out of canon that we've improved in our ability to create a story with computers and they wanted to add cool things to the prequels.

IMO, they should have left well-enough alone. :)

Oh the ever-present fan problem: fans exist.
In my opinion Anakin's story is much more interesting, than the original trilogy (probably partially because I watched said trilogy last time about 15 years ago).
About Jar-Jar... after you watch a few animes with their lame humour and extensive fan service, you become pretty much immune to things like Jar-Jar.

I rather liked the prequels, and don't quite understand why people hate them this much.
Then again, I like a lot of films that are usually disliked (like the Matrix sequels), so maybe my expectations for a film differ from the norm.

I wasn't around for all the hype of either trilogy, so I'm not particularly invested in either. As such, I can quite objectively say that they're all pretty good, and people who say the new trilogy is bad are often just having their perceptions warped by expectations and actively searching for ways to justify it. It would be the same if another season of Firefly was made.

Anyway, didn't Lucas write the manuscript for all of them before even producing any?

Hey :)

so.. as you all know, I've been gone for some time.... and will probably be for a little more...

BUT... some things in my life are in fact looking better and better currently...
as one example I'm currently moving into my new house, and this should, aside from the awesomeness of a house vs an apartment, also improve upon my financial status.. thus again solve more smaller problems...
sure, there are still a lot of problems (not for the public side of the forum, maybe hidden later...) but, in the grand picture... things are better....

SO!!!
I've started to plan to return to the forums...
not yet... but I'm making plans....
at first, I'll just make myself a goblins day... like maybe Monday afternoon... not sure yet...

any ways...

As long as we're linking DA galleries, here's mine. http://hyena-yena.deviantart.com/gallery/ Nothing there, just some images and character backstories for a story I plan on attempting. A professional book cover artist drew me the characters, I wrote the backstories.

Which is why you get things like Leia and Luke kissing in the first movie, and then becoming siblings in the next one when people wanted Leia to get with Han instead.

One theory for all the hate about the new trilogy is that all of the problems with it (bad acting, plot holes, boring fluff stuff) is that it forces fans to acknowledge that the original trilogy had the same problems, and they don't like saying there is anything wrong with the original trilogy.

You might think that a lot of people don't care about it that much, but remember, "The Force" became a major religion for a while after the original movies came out. Star Wars has many rabid fans.

Oh, I will agree the dialog in the first trilogy was fairly flat...but the actors were good enough (and perhaps the director not as nearly onimpitant) that they pulled it off, but really the acting was far from the wood that existed in the second set.

As for the first films they did have plot holes but the pace kept one from noticing them first off...The second set tended to plod about really...
Really...why are you reading this?

So, uh, the local police set up a website for people to report crimes, submit information, etc. In one respect, they named it quite sensibly, using the name of the county (I guess so a bunch of towns could share it; they've all grown into each other anyway). Unfortunately, I don't think anyone stopped to actually read it before they signed up for the URL. The URL which, I should point out, is now stenciled on to the back of the police cars. I do have to admit, though, that "middlesextips.com" is kind of memorable...

I swear, the Saxons claiming land on the British Isles was probably the best thing to take place in history. If they hadn't, we wouldn't have such ridiculous names as Essex, Wessex, Sussex, and Middlesex.

As for how they missed that, Burns, it's pretty common. Too common. Enough so that when I took a class on media design, we spent two lessens on 'this is how you don't design things', which focused on dozens upon dozens of real designs that were rather suggestive.

Actually, it reminds me a bit of the poor MIT freshman who came from Thailand with no idea that his name meant something different to native English speakers. He gained instant notoriety, pretty much sight unseen. Tracking him during Rush Week became impossible for the school as every frat house insisted on checking him in on the computer system. His name became a grafitti slogan around campus and in large letters on the bridge. I wonder what happened to him. Sattaporn Pornprom. Apparently "porn" means something completely different in the Thai language. Making things worse (or better, depending on your perspective), it turns out he'd graduated from the prestigious Middlesex (High) School in Bangkok. Yeah, the 19 year old frat boys found this irresistibly hilarious.
