If that's the way Thunt has decided to run it, but that would not be the case for the core rules of 3.x DnD. DnD presupposes ethical realism/objectivism, not internalism/subjectivism. Spells like "detect evil" and "smite evil" also presuppose such externalism. If good and evil were purely internal points of view, how would spells like those work? Would they be "detect those who consider themselves to be evil" or "detect those who I would consider evil if I had more information about their motivations and actions in the past"?
Keeping this up until the Kore mystery is resolved: paladins do not get their powers from deities, and D&D does not operate on subjective morality.
