Nerre wrote:Nice one. My old pictures look similar, but my current ones don't. Make me feel like I suck since my drawing ability did not improve since 2000. Some years back I just had less and less time to continue drawing. And I did not get into computer drawing until I got a Wacom lately. Most of my pictures are still only on paper, did not scan in many yet. First time I felt like the computers advanced far enought to allow drawing like I want it to. :D

One of my very first attempts is a fight scene in a battletech game I played, it was a 5 min sketch:

I've never played Battletech, but I enjoy the look of the mechs in that game. Overall I've found that I prefer all my scifi machinery to be more primitive and dirty over the sleek, shiny look.
Battle damage, dirt, pipes, wires, grinding gears. All that stuff. That's pretty much why I prefer the Serenity and Millenium falcon over the Enterprise.
I haven't drawn many scifi things since I'm pretty much exclusively a fantasy nerd, but I did this thing last year I think.

Re: Doodlemoogle's arts and farts

Post by DoodleMoogle » Wed Oct 22, 2014 4:11 am

I promised terrible things. I bring terrible things. Let's go.

[thumbnail]http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs18/i/2007/ ... Moogle.png[/thumbnail]
I've been a massive fantasy nerd my entire life. Obviously I came up with my own fantasy world when I was younger.
It's terribly uninspired, but looking back at these things is kind of fun. So many locations with stupid ass names.

[thumbnail]http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs18/i/2007/ ... Moogle.png[/thumbnail]
At this time I had just discovered the wonders of premade photoshop brushes. I abused these generic flame and light brushes a lot.

[thumbnail]http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs17/i/2007/ ... Moogle.png[/thumbnail]
A LOT

[thumbnail]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs18/i/2007/ ... Moogle.png[/thumbnail]
There was also this moon brush that I used a lot.

[thumbnail]http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs16/i/2007/ ... Moogle.jpg[/thumbnail]
And when I didn't use premade brushes, I used lens flare.

[thumbnail]http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs18/i/2007/ ... Moogle.jpg[/thumbnail]
I made up a lot of stuff about wizards in my world that used these round gemstones embedded into their flesh that amplified their magcal power, but when
abused did all sorts of fun things to you. Growing horns and spikes was one of my favorite it seems.

[thumbnail]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs16/i/2007/ ... Moogle.png[/thumbnail]
There's those premade brushes again. Shame.

[thumbnail]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs16/i/2007/ ... Moogle.jpg[/thumbnail]
This one is special in that I had just found Goblins and had apparently read up to the part where Kore comes and kills that little hideout of monsters.
I straight up stole THunts ogre design.

[thumbnail]http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs16/i/2007/ ... Moogle.jpg[/thumbnail]
The only positive thing about these is that I clearly tried to figure out how fabric and leathery wings worked when they were folded up or were in motion.

[thumbnail]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs18/i/2007/ ... Moogle.jpg[/thumbnail]
So awful

[thumbnail]http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs17/i/2007/ ... Moogle.png[/thumbnail]
Stupid

I think I'll have to split these old things into two posts.
This one kind of became themed with all the terrible things I came up for my little fantasy world.

Seems I need some tips for coloring. Do you use a Wacom tablet to? I got one with Manga Studio.

DoodleMoogle wrote: I use a Wacom tablet for drawing, model PTK 440. My ideal goal is getting one of those fancy drawing monitors, but those things are expesive as all hell.
For software I use Photoshop CC and Manga studio. Photoshop is a very basic choice, but I know "Manga studio" sounds like an odd choice. The reason is that I recently noticed that Photoshop has TERRIBLE drawing tablet support.
I looked around for a program that had better support and pressure sensitivity and eventually I settled on Manga studio because it provides you with wonderful tablet support and many other handy features.
It just feels better than Photoshop at this point. I still use Photoshop for coloring and adjustments, but Manga studio is the superior program for the actual drawing part of the artwork.
Yep. Manga studio just happens to have such good tablet support compared to Photoshop. The only advice for drawing with tablets is that don't worry about the lines looking great in the beginning.
When I started doing art digitally, my linework was wavy and unstable. It felt so different from working on paper. But you get used to that pretty fast. :)

Mobster gobster.
I love goblins as mobsters. It's like a match made in heaven.

And the same in black and white.

I've been playing Icewind dale with a friend for the last couple of days. My character is a Dragon disciple sorcerer. He is a walking inferno. So much fire.

I love all the games in the Baldur's gate engine. It's the closest I've ever gotten to playing D&D.

Thanks LAS. I was very happy with how the picture turned out. The ceiling beams were a bitch to get right, but I think it worked out in the end. :)

I liked drawing this picture, but the lines are a bit too thick. It makes the trees a bit unclear on how they're supposed to be shaped.

I traced it. Cars are one of the things I suck at drawing.
For one I know nothing about cars, and two I don't care about them. Old timey cars though. They're pretty cool.

I haven't posted anything in a while. Here's something I did in photography class last week.

[thumbnail]http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/ ... 87pi50.png[/thumbnail]

I've never done a panorama picture before, but seeing the separate photos fit together so well almost makes me want my own camera.

Tried to take some photos for a panorama with my phone.

The results were shaky.

Finland Synch. Finland. It's a pretty rural town so it's pretty quiet usually. It's also this was in the middle of a work day.
To the left in the picture is the market square that they put up stalls in every now and then. It aint quiet then.
